Hey Indabians, it is time for a
challenge, clips challenge that is. As you know, Indaba has launched our new
clips library. In our excitement
we have teamed up with Filter Magazine to offer the Indaba Community a chance
to be featured as an artist to watch in Filter Magazine and also featured on
Filter Magazine’s new digital sampler. So come out and have some fun creating a
new song in the Filter Clips Challenge.

Indaba Music is proud to announce the release of our brand new Clips Library! This web-based clips library will allow you to preview and download over 8,000 Creative Commons-licensed samples that you can use in your next production.

While you're sifting through all the incredible new loops and samples Indaba has to offer, check out the brand new Filter Magazine Clips Challenge. Write a song using two or more of the clips in the Clips Library, and you could be Filter Magazine's next artist to watch!

Rivers Cuomo Guitar Design Contest Winner Announced!

Congratulations to Frank H. on winning the Rivers Cuomo Design Contest! Frank created an Indaba-themed Epiphone G-400 guitar in conjunction with the Rivers Cuomo "My Brain Is Working Overtime" Contest, and his design will be created and awarded to Sean McCabe, winner of the Rivers Cuomo Contest. Anyone who tweets using the tag #IndabaNasaRmx, AND includes a link to either the contest page (http://bit.ly/3IrpuU) or a contest entry, will be eligible to win $500 and a one year Platinum membership to IndabaMusic.com (a $250 value).

But, that's not all.

For every day that #IndabaNasaRmx is a top trending topic on twitter, we’ll increase the prize by $500… All the way until the pot is worth $2500!

Making The Most Of Your 140 Characters:

Since you're limited to 140 characters per tweet, you'll want to use
a url shortener to make the most of your 140 characters. We recommend
using bit.ly. Simply go to http://bit.ly, paste in the URL you want to link to, then copy and paste the shortened bit.ly URL into your twitter post. This will give you more room to write about your remix!

Our favorite part about using bit.ly is that if you a “+” to the end or the url (i.e. http://bit.ly/3IrpuU+) you can actually see if your link has been clicked on and shared across the internet!

Did you know that you can record directly to an Indaba session from your phone? Store the IndabaVox number in your address book and you'll be able to capture your ideas whenever and wherever inspiration strikes! You can find out your unique number and session pin in the info pane of any of your sessions. After you make your call, the audio will show up as a new file in the session. Lets hear what you record at 2:00am on a Saturday night!

Back in July, a portion of Indaba users had their Basic accounts upgraded to Pro or Platinum memberships for a free trial period alongside the release of Indaba’s new console and site features. These upgrades were based upon the high usage by these members and were designed to give you time to adapt to your new, improved Indaba experience. This grace period has come and gone, and these trial memberships have run out. Don’t panic though - during your time as a Pro or Platinum member you were exposed to all the perks Indaba has to offer, and they sure are awesome! So why would you let all the advantages of being a Pro or platinum member just slip through your fingers?

For the price of a cup of coffee (or a beer) you can keep your membership as a Pro user - it's only $5 a month or $50 for the year! We’re sure you’re all aware that Indaba Music has offered
the community the chance to fully re-imagine and mix Rivers
Cuomo’s song, “My Brain is Working Overtime.” This is an amazing opportunity; however, what you may not be
aware of is that the grand prize for this contest is a one-of–a–kind Epiphone
G–400 guitar, a signed River’s vinyl, and a one – Year Platinum Indaba
membership.

Indaba is so excited for this grand prize because you, the
community are welcomed to help us create this guitar to be truly one–of–a–kind. Our River Cuomo Guitar

The world will miss one of the most influential members of
the music industry; Les
Paul passed away Thursday August 13, 2009 from complications caused by
pneumonia, he will be greatly missed and eternally loved.

Mixdowns Return to Indaba Sessions!

Thanks to your feedback, files uploaded to sessions can now be differentiated between Mixdowns and regular files! A mixdown is meant to be the single stereo audio file that is created from combining your separated tracks in the Indaba Session Console 2.0 (or your own DAW software). Just click on the Actions button next an audio file in your session and select Mixdown in the drop down menu to designate the file as a mixdown. When you select 'Files' in the Current View tab, mixdowns will appear at the top of the list, and they will be highlighted in gray.
