Should auld acquaintance be forgot, and never brought to mind? Should we remix a classic tune, the one named Auld Lang Syne?

We think so! It’s time to shed new light on this classic melody before it gets lost to the pages of history. Your challenge in this contest is to create your own original song using the Auld Lang Syne melody before the upcoming New Year. You can do it in any style or genre you like and you even get a little help, if you want it... Indaba member and previous contest winner JoLynn Seamen, has generously provided us with lead and backing vocal tracks to use however you like. Now, make the mid-18th century composer Robert Burns proud and create something new from something auld!

Fruitcake

There are a few things that everyone should enjoy during the holidays: hot apple cider, a kiss for the New Year, and fruitcake.

Cider is too hard to mail… We love you, but we don’t want to kiss you... We can, however, offer you a massive, massive fruitcake! We promise, we didn’t find it in our closet from last year! Not only will you enjoy this inexplicable pastime, but there is also a special New Year's surPRIZE that we’ll announce in the first days of 2008.

I didn't get my vote in on time :( Ah well, 32 people didn't get their song in on time! Everyone here that got their song in on time did win just by way of getting a finished product in by a deadline. It's very important in this industry and something to think about when committing yourself for the next contest. Congrats to all.

Well Done Arnold. What can i say...i'm alway's blown away by the talent on this site, but not only that, but the encouragement that everyone seems to give to eachother, from the obvious professionals to the complete amateurs like myself. It really is like one big musically atuned familly and i love being part of it. Congratulations to everyone who entered, they are all winners to me and i look forward to the next contest.

Wow! I just signed on...what an elegant finish. And Arnold...you are a peach for being so gracious, but you absolutely DO NOT have to give away your cds, you know. You totally earned that first place with true aplomb. Nevertheless, whatever you decide, Moya will be so thrilled (once he gets home from school!!!!!)...stay tuned for his message. So many beautiful and creative entries too. It was a great ride. Glad to be on this network with you all. Thanks Indaba, for bringing all of us wayward musicians together!

If at all possible, I hereby request that Indaba delivers the Fruitcake to the nearest local shelter or family in need, and offer it on behalf of myself, the Indaba team, and all Indaba's website members. Secondly, I feel that Moya and his family deserve to win something out of this contest as they did a wonderful job on their version of the song. I believe that everyone here is proud of Moya, therefore kindly ship the CD to their address, and I hope they will accept this as a belated Christmas gift from me. Thank you for the opportunity to be involved in this contest and on this website, and thank you to those who voted for me. Thank you all for listening, and a special thanks to Jolynn for singing this song beautifully. Arnold Hugo Stolting.
