Welcome, lovers... of music! You are hereby challenged to create an original song about Saint Valentine, the holiday that bears his name, or really anything at all that relates to our good (and sometimes not so good!) old friend, Love! There are only a few guidelines...
1. We've given you three pieces of media to inspire your song: a poem by Eugene Field; an audio clip from Elvis' Burning Love; and an image of candy hearts with song themes on them. You must use at least one of these to noticeably influence your song in some way.
For example, you could write a 12 bar blues song in the style of The King or build on his melody. You could use a verse from the poem we've chosen as inspiration for lyrics. Or you might... Well, you get the point.
2. You can use any part of any of these works to influence your song, but you may not use the actual audio file. All audio must be original.
3. You must write a note in the Talk Back section about your influences. We want you all to understand each other's creative thinking and enjoy an enhanced listening experience.
4. Your song can't be over 3 minutes long. Why, you ask? Because it's more fun when there are more challenges!
5. Extra points if you use more than one noticeable influence or if you can identify the original songs that influenced our candy heart themes!
Submissions are due by February 9 at 11.59pm (EST).

For this contest we're going to give you just what most of you have been asking for... Nothing!
This contest is all about the love. We'll still let everyone vote, so there will technically be a winner, but we love that everyone has been so supportive of one another and we want to focus on the music and not the prize.
OK, well, maybe the focus can be on music + a box of chocolates... :) Everyone who enters a submission gets a little box of chocolates!
Congratulations Omri.
I am surprised that my unconventional valentine ended in 2nd place; it was most unexpected, but highly appreciated. This was an enjoyable competition and everyone that participated deserves a round of (virtual)applause.
Thanks! It's been a varied and interesting contest, and the process is indeed much better when the voting is kept to the members of Indaba. Cya next time... Happy Valentines :)
