Create the Indaba Podcast Theme!

Yes, folks! We've just launched a new podcast and we need some theme music! After the great success of the Leo Laporte Remix Contest, it's clear that there's no better group to turn to for theme music than the Indaba community.

We've provided some tracks to get you started (thanks to our good friends Jukebox the Ghost). Your challenge is to create the most interesting opening and closing music possible. Given the nature of our podcast, we're looking for something simple and low-key.

With all the interesting people we've met through Indaba (record label folk, producers, musicians, engineers, music tech companies, etc.), we've had some intense discussions. We'd love to share them with you, so we're inviting all our friends and neighbors to join us for a weekly podcast discussion of all things music.

This is a website to upload your mixes online. Can anyone help me find a website which will help me mix it or any software? Otherwise, how do you mix yours?

Josh Robertson wrote on August 31, 2009:

Samson,
The podcast is still running, although we've moved to video instead of audio podcasts and thus don't update iTunes. Check out the latest video podcast with Amanda Palmer... http://www.indabamusic.com/indablog/5305-interv...
Matthew Shearer's mix was used for the intro music and Thomas Kantin for the closing music. Great work guys!

Did Indaba cancel the podcast? That would take a lot of the impetus out of the contest, here.
I looked on iTunes and the last podcast there was sometime in 2008.

Jake Hansen wrote on July 14, 2009:

Its Probably best to keep it between 15 and 50 seconds, but yes as long as it doesn't overload the system or is so short the waveform looks like a block, any length is accepted.

Heh! I must be the only person on the site working on this session! Indaba - I was wondering - does the song have to be just 30 seconds? Or can it be any length? If it is, is it edited down to 30 seconds? I was just really interested to know.

Austin White, your mix is incredible. Indaba as an NES game! <3

Jean-Philippe D... what an amazing job turning that into a concise theme AND converting it into salsa goodness. You should talk to NPR about making jingles for them!

cheers

Joey Dats... I'm diggin your tempo, that piano is sounding great. The beat and Hives-style guitar is a nice touch, good luck.

In general, things are sounding great people - keep em commin!!

Cheers,
