Prize

This contest is part of a series of Third Eye Blind contests, with each contest centered on a song on the upcoming album Ursa Major.

Top 3. Members and the public will nominate three community favorites from each contest to receive an autographed copy of the album when it's released.

First Place. Third Eye Blind will choose a winner from among all the submissions in each contest. The band will release an alternate mix album of contest winners, to be included as a companion digital album to the band's own release of Ursa Major.

Grand Prize. Third Eye Blind will also select one Grand Prize Winner from among all the contests. The Grand Prize winner will have the opportunity to perform live onstage with Third Eye Blind!

Judges

The band's excited to hear your submission and the discussions you have about its music! Band members will select the first-place winner from among the submissions. After the campaign is over and the album's complete, they'll critique the first-place winners of all the contests and select one grand prize winner. Entries will be judged on creativity, originality, and marketability, so think outside the box!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I SPAM the discussion board?!?!
A: No! It's meant for discussion. Posting about your mix is cool, but please be respectful of everyone who wants to talk about the contest and don't post the same thing repeatedly.

Q: Can I submit a mashup and/or use samples in my submission?
A: No! Your submission must be made of the tracks provided and/or material for which you own the copyright.

Q: How many mixes can we submit?
A: One mix! Make it count!

Q: How do I download the source files?
A: You must first enter the contest before you can download the files.

Q: What can I add to the remix?
A: You can add anything you want! You can re-record the entire song, just use the vocals and build off of that, or do a straight remix and only use the files - the sky is the limit.

Q: I'm new to remixing and need some help!
A: If you need help remixing and are using our online session console, check out our help section and online tutorials!

Q: Is the contest limited to the United States?
A: The contest is open to the world! Unfortunately, there are laws in certain countries that are totally out of our control - please make sure you are in compliance with your country's laws before entering! Indaba Music is an international community of musicians exploring the art of collaboration online and we most certainly welcome everyone.

Q: What are the song details?
A: Bit Depth:24, Key: F Major, Time Signature: 4/4, Tempo: 142

Q: Are we allowed to post the track to our social networking sites?
A: Once you submit your remix, you'll get your own personalized widget so you can spread your entry all over the web. Just submit it and then click on the "Widgets!" button.

Q: Can I sell my mix?
A: No! Submissions are licensed to you under a Creative Commons Attribution- Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 license. This means you can play your mix anywhere you like for non-commercial purposes, as long as you always give due credit to 3EB. For more information on this license, go to http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/

Q: My widget doesn't work. What the heck?
A: We are working with our widget provider to make the widgets compatible with as many sites as possible. That said, different sites have different issues with widgets. The best way to guarantee success is to follow these guidelines.

• Avoid using Internet Explorer (use Firefox instead)
• When posting to popular social networking sites use the built in sharing functionality for that site.
• Avoid posting to the "About Me" or "Like to Meet" sections of your MySpace profile.

Q: I don't see my question here!
A: Please post a description of the problem on the discussion board and we’ll help you as best we can!

What a nice comment Mantis :-) We are all here for many reasons, but we all came here for the music in first place. We come here from different countrys, different opinions, different lifesituations-but for those people who come here for talking bad about other peoples sex, religion or colour of the skin or even who makes good/bad music,is so unprofessional. We came here in first place(FLOYBOX) to talk with other people from diff countrys and see if this music we make is interesting for people outside Europe-but I have to admit that I think a lot of people here is so unserious that I will reconsider if this is the place for us(FB). best regards to all and nice to hear Mantis that you at Indaba have an opinion and wan't to have Indaba as a place for musician and not a place for strange people with strange comments. Michael - Thanx for making laugh with "Oh thats so not fair!"
I don't handle the gathering or posting of contests. We may have to look towards someone else here to find out what is going on with future contests. Thank you for participating and I wish you success in and out of the contest. Thanx for your support (and making me smile!)

I want to send a big THANK YOU to you all.
We appreciate your understanding with the topics on the Discussion Board. We are here to make Indaba Music the coolest place for musicians like us to call home. At Indaba, we are looking to have fun, and collaborate or, have a place just to explore new and cool music. I know that it is sometimes fun to chop on others and it is easy to comment on others music but I encourage you all to keep positive and support others on the site. Let’s face it, major music companies and music groups pay absolutely no attention to non-signed musicians and Indaba is a way for us to say we can make our voice known and be heard world-wide anyway. I also know that it is very helpful in the music business to be cordial and to work well with others, as this is conducive to producing quality music. We are all in this music thing together and can learn from others in the community. I try not to post much on the discussion boards, as I like to see the community come together on topics and work them out. I don’t like editing others comments as, not only am I NOT the “word” police, I feel people should say what they feel - but, NOT at the expense of others feelings. I find it ridiculous when people write things like “your mix sucks!” How is that helpful? It’s not. It is even more ridiculous when people start talking racist and sexist remarks. I don’t care who’s black, white, gay or straight. What does that have to do with music? Nothing. Billy Strayhorn was a homosexual and his music was good enough for Duke Ellington to steal, and your Mamma & Poppa were probably dancing to his tunes! This is a music site and that is where we should focus. C’mon, an old man like me could use some pointers that I can employ from the younger generations. Nobody really gets much of anything from straight-up negative attacks. Our vision is to stick together in our attempts to make it in the music business. We may not have a music contract but we have music and each other! I am very happy about that and can only hope that others value the talent that has gathered in our community. I have no problem saying I love Indaba and it’s members. Yes, that’s you! I have made many new friends and contacts that I would not have met elsewhere. Again, thank you all for your understanding and your support. Your music completes my spirit and I thank you all so much for that. (Look at that – an Indaba blog with the word “love” in it!)
