“Yellow laser beam funk. I sampled a song by Frida from Abba. It's a song that I have heard in the back of my head from my childhood, but I have no clue where I heard it first, it's just always been there. So this is my version with Becky from a band called ‘You Say Party, We Say Die’.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I SPAM the discussion board?!?!
A: No! It's meant for discussion. Posting about your entry is cool, but please be respectful of everyone who wants to talk about the contest and don't post the same thing repeatedly.

Q: Can I submit a mashup and/or use samples in my submission?
A: No! Your submission must be made of the tracks provided and/or material for which you own the copyright.

Q: How many entries can I submit?
A: Just one! Make it count! (there are 10 other K-OS contests though, and you can enter all of them!)

Q: How do I download the source files?
A: You must first enter the contest before you can download the files.

Q: What can I add to the source files?
A: You can add anything you want! You can re-record the entire song, just use the vocals and build off of that, or do a straight mix and only use the source files - the sky is the limit.

Q: I'm new to mixing/producing and need some help!
A: If you need help and are using our online session console, check out our help section and online tutorials.

Q: Are we allowed to post the track to our other social networking sites?
A: Once you submit your entry, you'll get your own personalized widget so you can spread your entry all over the web. Just submit it and then click on the "Get Widgets" button.

Q: Can I sell my mix?
A: No! Submissions are licensed to you under a Creative Commons Attribution- Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 license. This means you can play your mix anywhere you like for non-commercial purposes, as long as you always give due credit to K-OS. For more information on this license, go to http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/

Q: My widget doesn't work. What the heck?
A: We continually work with our widget syndication service and other websites to increase compatibility as much as possible. That said, different sites have different issues with widgets. The best way to guarantee success is to follow these guidelines.

• Avoid using Internet Explorer (use Firefox instead)
• When posting to popular social networking sites use the built in sharing functionality for that site
• Avoid posting to the "About Me" or "Like to Meet" sections of your MySpace profile

Q: I don't see my question here!
A: Please post a description of the problem on the discussion board and we’ll help you as best we can!

hhahahahahaha. Harm hahahaahah. Sephira puts together a whole long intelligent hit on you, and you reply "leave me alone"? hahah amazing! I'm pretty convinced of what Sephira said. Regardless of getting into musical taste, your levels are all over the place. If you do have "many old friend" on myspace who vote at 4:30am they don't have good ears... Still love it. I want you to write on the board more!!

u make no sense. ur telling me that only people from calgary vote for my mix? iam confused
leave me alone and just dont be jelous

i seen an article in the calgary herald bout this website, so i upload my mix, i have alot of friend on myspace, i dont know what ur talkin bout 20, i never knew making music was such a shock to some people

Sephira Nārikela wrote on February 8, 2009:

Dear Harm Productions,
If you take some time to google 'harm productions,' you will find a flicker post by an artist who is accusing you of stealing his artwork. You were forced to remove this by Myspace after the artist flagged the picture, thereby drawing attention to myspace administration. This forced removal shows that you actually stole it, and by stating that it happened 3-4 months ago you have even admitted that you are a thief.

FURTHERMORE, in a private message you sent to my indaba account, you then claim that you stole the artwork 5 months ago, that is inconsistent with your public claim on this board and further illustrates your ability to twist logic and memory to make yourself comfortable with your past mis-action.

I MUST ADD that your contest entry has risen very quickly to the first place position. Actually much much faster than any other entry in several of these contests. When I logged on one morning to see how the contest progressed I found that you had managed, in under a day, what others could not do in weeks. At that time it was 8:30AM EST, and you are near Calgary placing you sometime after 5:30AM. Since your entry was only in the top 10 twelve hours previous to that, this would tell us that you had managed to secure what may be thousands of votes within just 12 hours.. DURING THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT.

So who votes for your mix in the middle of the night? No one, would you really be bothered to vote for your generic swill at 4am? If we take a moment to check out your myspace, facebook group etc. You only have around 20 friends in each, so that wouldn't make sense. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT

I don't think humans vote at that time, humans are asleep at that time..

Once I met a Hindu prince who told me about a baron who once asked him to build a computer program which repeatedly generates website hits through a loop command in the programming. I laughed when I remember this because I thought that you would make the perfect software algorithm, just one brown kid in suburban calgary generating email addresses through the wee hours of the night.

Your whole get up smells fishy, even your name looks like someone wrote cheat on your face.

ONE LOVE.

Hey! it's a very interesting point of view you got here Tassili and I agree. If Indaba is ment to be the place for serious discussion about music people have to learn that beatifull words is not necessesary the words of truth and the truth is not necesserary beatifull. All people on the earth, here the same sound. It's simple, because we have the same sounds in the nature as we use in music. If you hit the door with your hand-you will hear a deep tone and the same tone, just higher.and a 1/4 tone (forgot the word in english). If you hear some tones that doesn't match-your ears will tell you that you hear disharmony(disharmonic?)-So,if someone make a mix and yell:check this out!-they ask(IMO) for critism.First:is it harmonic? and second:you ask for peoples subjective taste. This is what a discussionboard is for.Else it will be,as Tassili says:a kiosk for people, who's here for that succes, they will never get because their mom never told them that they have to work for it to be better.. We love you guys-peace /FLOYBOX
