Score the Opening Titles to Shifty!

Watch the trailer for Shifty!

Before the age of recorded sound in motion pictures, in-house pianists or organists were often hired to accompany the film while it played in a theater. We’ve come a long way since then. From The Beatles’ animated psychedelic trippiness in Yellow Submarine, to Bob Dylan’s historic work on Billy The Kid, to hits like Jaws, Halloween, Star Wars, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and Indiana Jones, movie music has heightened our emotions and tugged at our heart strings. Increasingly, music and film are inextricable.

In UK cinemas beginning April 24th, Shifty is a sharply scripted, witty, urban thriller from writer/director Eran Creevy. Set on the outskirts of London, the film follows themes of friendship and loyalty over the course of 24 hours in the life of a young drug dealer, the charismatic "Shifty".

To underscore (no pun intended) the relationship between music and celluloid, Indaba has partnered with the film’s soundtrack producers, Molly Nyman and Harry Escott. This writing duo have been composing music together since 2001. Over the years, their work has been featured in high-profile TV dramas and documentaries, theatre, and feature films such as Hard Candy, Deep Water, and A Might Heart.

Now Indaba is offering you a chance to re-imagine a song from Shifty. We’re giving you stems and challenging you to score a film. We encourage you to check out the trailer for Shifty above. We’re looking for remixes in a wide range of styles. From hip-hop to classical and from techno to jazz, the choice is absolutely yours!

Wow just got a shock then, I saw my avata at the top of the random submissions page, and thought I was in with a chance but nope I just checked and I'm still at 26th it's my first contest, if you like real live played instruments have a listen... Sax, harmonica, acoustic guitar, oh and a bit of pitch shifting on the vocals. It's a bit slow to start so don't think there is a problem with your sound card. lol.
