What's the deadline? Sorry if I've overlooked it, but I have yet to see it mentioned. :-)
Should be posted soon, I'm not sure of the date but it runs for 3 weeks.
Are there any rules about other sounds used in the remix?
I haven't heard of this yet - is this the TWiT guy Leo Laporte? What's the scoop?
Mark
Yes, it is Mark! Check out www.indabamusic.com/thetechguy for the whole scoop, but basically whoever is chosen will have their remix become the new theme song for Leo's show! Pretty cool we think...
Fredrik, use anything you want, but I do discourage vocals. My tracks are there for people to use or not to use!
Hi Everyone, first of all, thanks very much to Ashley and Leo for helping us put this all together.
I wanted to write a quick note about the session console... It runs in Flash and because there is an unusual number of tracks here (50 if you include the L and R channels) it may take some time to load. If you are experiencing any problems let me know and we can come up with a better solution. In the meantime, if your browser asks you after a minute if you want to continue loading say Yes! It will only take a few seconds longer.
Thanks!
SWEET! Thanks, Matt!
This is too cool to pass up, even if I don't stand a chance! ;-)
Mark
Say Dan - could you provide an RSS feed for this forum so we (well, make that "I") can keep up?
I'd be really really really really really grateful.......
Heck, I'll even make you your own theme song! "Dan The Man" or something like that...How's that for incentive?
ROTFLMAO
Mark
Is it possible to take down a previous submission and put up a new one?
Indaba will probably answer also but you should be able to put up an additional submission.
About Part A and Part B:
The radio stations are usually talking over Part A and try to time it so that they are out just before Part B. The remix that you submit can't deviate from the timing by more than a second and the mix has to be quieter and less busy for Part A.
Part A should be calm and building to about 26 seconds or 16 bars at the current tempo of 143.8. Part B can actually be as long as you want over 16 bars or another 26 seconds.
I know some of you are just having fun and submitting and that's great. Hopefully you are getting to know your audio software by doing this and it will encourage you to do more and even participate with the Indaba community!
So Part A should be 16 bars? Is the original posted anywhere? I just went along with what I could hear in the show, and that seems to be in the format 8+16+16(with fadeout).
So my submission has to have a longer intro?
RSS feeds for the forums - an excellent (and easy to implement) idea Mark! Thanks for bringing that up - we'll get it done.
Fredrik,
The original is the first file for the downloads, it only has an 8 bar intro on that because it's faded in. We do need the buffer before that. Part B is less important about the length and format as long as it's at least 26 seconds.
Is there some way to download a full quality file of the original mix, that I may use for comparison as I remix?
Only the .mp3 is online... http://music.tenhauser.com/The%20Tech%20Guy%20Theme2.mp3
(right-click>save as)
Ok, thanks Ashley! Now i got a 16 bars Part A version. So i guess it will be posted here when it's possible to replace a submission.
Thanks for all the previous help. After 5 tries, I was able to upload my mix without getting the "Oops" error from the website. But, the preview button in the upload area only plays silence. I don't want to submit until I'm sure it is there. Is there a certain file format it needs to be for the preview to work? I tried .wav and .mpg, both at 16/44.1.
Thanks
I also noticed that Christopher A.'s new upload plays silent, also. Can anyone else hear it when you click the play button?
This is why I'm holding off on submitting. I'm sure mine would do the same thing, since I can't hear mine from the upload/submit page, although it said it was successfully uploaded.
Thanks.
I submitted my remix but the intro is only 8 bars. I remixed it so the intro is now 16 bars for the necessary 26 second buffer. How can I re-submit my new mix?
Bill Jackson, it does seem that yours uploaded silent. I'll let them know.
Paul Minshall, it doesn't matter for the voting but if you do get chosen it will be good to know that you already went through that trouble. I believe you are able to submit a new mix but if they are basically the same then you may split your own votes.
Jonathan L., I can't see the page because I've already submitted but when you join the "contest" you should be taken to a page to download the files.
Paul Minshall, I know they said the date somewhere here but I can't remember it, when submitting ends voting starts. It is three weeks from start so there's one more week.
I still cant get them when I click the enter button I get sent to the homepage...
Hi all... well I feel like a complete noob! I have a finished mix that I want to enter in the contest, and I uploaded it to the session I started when I entered the contest/ joined up. My best guess is that I stick it on a track and mix it down? Right now it's a wave file... what format does it need to be for the contest?
thanks
--Dan
Hi Ashley,
Are these actually Broadcast Wave files?
I cannot seem to import them into Nuendo at the proper placement.
Or is everyone just going to grid at 144 metronome and moving the files wherever and recomposing so-to-speak?
Thanks!
Hey, I accidentally uploaded an entry that cuts off halfway through, is there a way to re- enter the fixed version?
Taylor - we can probably swap out the file for you...please email Mantis at info@indabamusic.com and he'll take care of you!
I missed the deadline for entering, can I still get the 27 tracks to play around with?
Thanks in advance.
