Well, thanks for the feedback, and thanks for pointing out the issues. The tagging system is actually supposed to work as you suggest it should, so one of our tech support people will contact you to figure out what the exact problem was. Thanks Beef!

Genre & influence restrictions

This was the only annoying part of the sign up process for me. I could not choose "funk" as a music genre!? Only sub-genres of funk that don't relate to what I do. Also I have to pick from a list of influences to put in my profile? Many things I typed would disappear because they were not in the system's list. I understand that they are trying to make the site searchable to easily find like-minded people, but allowing us to be as specific as possible would allow us to narrow down our search results better. Am I right, or am I right?

Other than that, the site looks great and I can't wait to get involved here. Cheers.

GROUPS - Whaddya think?

Groups are cool. Not sure however that there needs to be a "Functionality" of sorts that accomplishes this task.
I actually got the record company that we belong to on Indaba. We will be doing the pre-production for our next album on Indaba. We did this by having each member host the songs they have written and invite just band members and some special guests to work on the project together. We really didnt needf a tool of sorts. More just organization methods.
My two cents.

GROUPS - Whaddya think?

Hi Anne,

We definitely hear your request and there are some things coming up in the pipeline that will address it 100% and, dare I say, in a cooler way than any other site currently does it.

The idea for groups was really to make it easier for people who want to share things with others to do so in a way that has more of a group atmosphere instead of just one on one interactions. For example, You can send sessions to a group if you think other people might find them interesting. It wasn't meant at all to divide people but rather to provide a platform for them to come together.

That said, I understand there is important information in what you are asking for and I want to assure you we are working on it! As always, we appreciate your patience.

New Phone recording and Chat Feature on Sessions

Minime,
We totally understand your concerns about the drawbacks for international users of IndabaVox. That is why we have made is an experimental IndabaLabs feature - it's a bonus to our other features that we hope some people will find useful. It doesn't take the place of the other stuff we've been working on. In fact, we are developing a fully featured chat that hopefully will be up on the site before too long. We know that some people probably won't benefit much from IndabaVox, but it's a cool feature as a note-pad for verbal or musical ideas that we were able to add using the available technology. Keep your eyes out for chat, it's coming!

New Phone recording and Chat Feature on Sessions

Hi Indaba.
your new feature with the chat and Phone conferencing is not cool.It looks very very Yesterday.Comunication with a phone ? With International Users ? Have you ever Phone To Europe or to Asia ?
I have look one time what is the price for a phone call from my place here to the USA.FOR ONE MINUTE 1,70 EURO (2,29 $ for a better understanding)
I have do many many conferences with people from around the world and i NEVER have pay something for it.One way to do this was to use Skype for it.It s for free and the Audio Quality is very good. And there you have also VIDEO.You can send files and so on.IT IS FOR FREE ! NO COASTS !
I think to use a phone for International conferencing is not very clever. The internet had bring us here many fine ways to do this all FOR FREE and NOT that it is only for free.Normaly this free things are not so good as this where the people must pay for BUT here this is other. The Quality and also the Features on Skype are MUCH MUCH better as everything what you can do with a phone.
In this way a feature like that with coasts in a world where you have this other what works much much better as a phone is in my opinion ..........hmmmm how can i say......??? .....it s a liitle bitty UNREAL !
It looks to me as a market where you have PORSCHE for free and a minicooper for a half million $ WHAT DO YOU WANT USE ? A PORSCHE FOR FREE ? OR THIS MINI FOR 5000000 ? I only ask one time.I think it is an intersted Question.

Change this please ! Create a NORMAL chat room where the people can chat for free.I t must not be with Audio/Video.Only a chat room and a WHO IS ONLINE page where the user can see who is online because you can only chat or invite people to a chat when the other is online. In this way a feature to have a list where you can see Who is online is a must be for a chat,And at last this is not only a good thing for the Sessions and so on.It s also a very fine thing for new bees who need some help with there first steps.

And so just by the way.As this forum had Start minime had do the suggestion to create here a chat.It was one of the first threads here in this forum !It was in January 2008 !
http://www.indabamusic.com/forums/3/topics/2
Now we have this here with the phone, hmmmm ???

GROUPS - Whaddya think?

rather than DIVIDE us into Groups, i'd rather you guys spent time bringing us TOGETHER, as in one OPEN MIC of finished projects. right now when we finish a project, the best way to get listens is to take it to OTHER sites who DO have that feature. something's hinkey here! you promote the musicians, but not the finished product. hmmmmm - is it ME?

i really DON'T like total strangers hitting us up to vote for contest remix submissions. a new wave began today.

i hate to be rude, but since spamming is just that, i see no other way around it than to tell ppl to BUG THE HELL OFF!

i know i'm not alone. is there hope for those like me who haven't the slightest interest in the world of remix? i feel strongly that this needs addressing. it's been brought up in the past, and i'm bringing it up again.

The best thing about indaba's competition

This is an awesome idea! If each member can set a status flag to indicate that they are ready to take on new work, then all *new* and (genre) matching sessions with projects that have been advertised (the project's "advertised" status flag has been set) will be delivered in a report to the member, and a daily report can be sent to the session owner letting her know what kind of exposure her session is getting.

Guys, this could be some *really* low-hanging fruit here! ;-)

The best thing about indaba's competition

Maybe indaba does already do this, but I don't think so...

I have a collaborative project (embedded). One of the primary things I'm looking for is people with the right skills to help.

Problem is, I still have to manually find them. I have to invite them, one at a time and then I can only do so many and then I'm refused.

What would be fantastic, as with a competitors website, is for those people who say that they have the sames skills I need for my project, to automatically notified that 'A project in need of your skills is available'.

Bingo, both sides are happy.

Jade.
