Hey jazz folks!

For those of you who don't know, legendary saxophonist, Greg Osby, is in the house! He recently posted a characteristically bold entry regarding the downfall of jazz musician's attire. Check it out on Osby's Artist in Residence page and leave a comment to let him know you stopped by!

And, last night I hit the Jazz Standard to see a great trio that consisted of Steve Kuhn on piano, Steve Swallow on bass and Al Foster on drums.

I have known Mr. Kuhn for some time; a student of the Russian Technique, was member of John Coltrane's band and later went on to play with Stan Getz and Art Farmer.

Bassist Steve Swallow also had played with Farmer and also has toured extensively with John Scofield. Swallow has consistently won the electric bass category in Down Beat yearly polls, both Critics' and Readers', since the mid-80s.

Then there's Al Foster on drums. I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Foster on a record titled ScoLoHoFo that included Scofield, Joe Lovano and Dave Holland. A really great night of beautiful music from a group of extraordinary musicians.
