THE RHYTHM METHOD
The guitar player who plays strictly rhythm can be a very helpful element to any song of any band of any style or genre, helping to not only keep the song in tempo with the drummer (and sometimes, the singer), and to keep the song in its correct tonal melody with the bass player (and again, sometimes with the singer), but also to offset and highlight, or accentuate the talents of the lead guitar player. From the folk, country, blues of The Grateful Dead's Bob Weir, to the speed heavy metal of Metallica's James Hetfield, and all kinds of music in between and beyond, the rhythm guitar player can add that last little element of style that not only defines the overall "sound" of a song, but sometimes even can define the rhythmic classification of the piece in essence, helping with odd time signatures, as well as difficult time signature or tempo changes within a song. To have a solid rhythm guitar part in a song can even turn an ordinary song into a memorable one in rare occasions. However, this group is not strictly for rhythm guitar players. It is for all musicians and music lovers who believe that The Rhythm Method is an important part of all music. It is for the musician who wants to learn how to incorporate, and blend in, rhythm guitar, either with a whole band in general, or with it's individual other parts. Please feel free to post any question or statement about this subject, and I will try to answer all questions to the best of my ability. Thanks and Peace!
