Opportunities & Contests
Opportunities on Indaba Music allow you to work with established artists, gain exposure, and receive rewards. Winners of past opportunities have collaborated with major recording artists and their mixes have appeared on official releases.
To participate in contests, select the Contests link in the Community tab at the top of any Indaba page. Select a contest that is still open for submissions, read the contest description so you know your objective, and make note of when the Submissions Due date at the top right of the page so you know how long you have to complete your mix. Once your ready to start creating your mix, select the Enter Contest button at the top right of the contest page.
Once you enter the contest, you can download the available stems beneath the Source Tracks header on the contest page. If available, check out the Contest Assets provided, and download the Advanced Audio Packs for access to even more stems from the original track.
Once you’re happy with your mix, select the Submit Entry button at the top right of the contest page. Click the Upload New Files button in the pop-up, find your mix, and select the Submit Entry button at the bottom right of the pop-up to submit to the contest. Make sure you’re uploading a valid MP3 or 16-bit WAV or AIFF file to the contest. They are the only file types that will play on In Indaba Music contests.
You can participate in the discussion by leaving a comment in the Comments section, but please do not to spam the board with links to your mix.
Once the submission period ends, it’s time to start spreading the word about your mix. While winners and runners up in most Indaba contests are chosen out of all the submissions, voting placement is a factor is most Honorable Mention prizing and the most popular mixes never go unnoticed by the judges.
To promote your mix during the voting period, go to your submission page (which, if ever you lose the link, can be found under the Contests I’ve Entered header on the right side of your profile page) and “Like” your mix, or share it on Facebook, Twitter or MySpace.
To vote for your favorite submissions, go to the contest page during the voting period and click the Vote For Your Favorite button at the top right of the contest page. Click the Vote button on the bottom right of the submission to vote for your favorite mix. Note: You can vote for multiple submissions, but multiple votes for the same mix will not be counted.
