Anyone who has laid down a track at some point in their life knows how frustrating recording can be. Any little imperfection is cause for doing the whole track over again. I remember being in a studio and having to record a drum track over and over again because at some point in the song my stick would hit one of the rims. It's worse for guitar players, who hace six strings of tiny mistakes to make. Well, not anymore.
Matt pointed me to a New York Times article about a new kind of computer software that will take the work out of sounding pitch perfect.
MUSICIANS who want to create note-perfect digital recordings of their performances may soon have a powerful tool to help them: a computer program designed to correct mistakes in their piano riffs or guitar accompaniments as easily as software now fixes the red eyes in digital photographs.
The new software is precise enough, for instance, to reach into an audio file and change any one of the six notes in a guitar chord without changing the sound of the other notes, said Peter Neubäcker, inventor of the program and founder of Celemony Software, the Munich company that will sell it.
The software, called Direct Note Access, will be released in the fall and cost $399.
Part of me hates this program for taking yet another step in the 'you don't need to be good to sound good' direction, but then I remember all that time in the recording studio and I feel better about it. What do you guys think?

The Software is Named MELODYNE what is a Stand Alone Software but so that you can plug it in your DAW (REWIRE OR BRIDGE Pug in). This Direct Note Access is a new fetuare for Melodyne and will be released in Autumn this Year in an Update. At first in the Pug in Version and then in all other Versions,
Melodyne is a Killer Aplication and the best ELASTIC AUDIO (GRANULAR SYNTHESE)Software on the Market.
This update is very intersted and i want say to everyone who work with Audio and want have the same edit Fetaures like it is with midi this Software is the right thing. You can control and edit your Audio like Midi. After a short Analyse when you do an audio import it shows you all infos about the file like tempo and notation and you can change it like you want. The workaround is very easy and with the Plug in Version you have no need to work out of your own Daw you have this fetaures in your prefered DAW.This Software is MEGA COOL and the new Update is a very fine next step for this Software. This new fetuares will be a REVOLUTION for AUDIO Editing at first in the PLUG IN version of MELODYNE but .............WAIT when they di the Update for the Studio Edition..........i have the feeling then we get freak out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sometimes Software updates are SPECIAL and think what was happen as Sampling comes out and what the musicians have all do with it.Do you have an idea what this update will be for the Music self ? Think about your Sample Libary and what you can do now with it.Any Ideas ? Oh i am totaly excited and can not wait to get this !!!
I BELIEVE THIS COULD BE THE NEXT BIG BIG CHANGE IN MUSIC and not just one of this Software updates !!!
Here the page of Celemony with a Video where you can watch how it works and how easy it is to edit the BLOPS :-)
