Interview With Amanda Palmer

Thursday July 23, 2009 at 08:00 AM

Amanda Palmer, half of the rock duo “The Dresden Dolls” and an accomplished solo artist in her own right, is well known as a trailblazer, using both old- and new-school approaches to create music and to connect with her fans. Her ability to connect with her fans on a more personal, instantaneous level through twitter has been paramount to her success in 2009 (despite her public feud with her label, Roadrunner Records), and even helping her generate significant sales in some new and exciting ways. Amanda recently sat down with Streeter Seidell, front-page editor of collegehumor.com and curator extraordinaire of our very own Indablog to discuss her musical journey, how twitter has changed her relationship with her fans and even how it has changed her business, among other interesting topics. Enjoy!  Don’t forget to take notes!

Also, a special thanks to Indaba members Matthew Shearer, for creating the intro music for this video podcast, and Thomas Kantin for the closing music. Great work guys!

:D I love Amanda Palmer. This is awesome. The Dresden Dolls are also the best punk cabaret group ever.
