A Message From Our Founders: A New Indaba Is On The Way!
Wednesday June 30, 2010 at 06:30 AM
But first… Let’s watch a video.
Hello!
We launched Indaba Music back in 2007 to help make musicians’ lives easier. Over the past few years the Indaba Music community has grown to over 500,000 musicians from 185 countries who network and make music together in online recording sessions. From re-imagining the works of major artists like Snoop Dogg and Yo-Yo Ma to teaching the next generation of aspiring musicians and creating international collaborations for world peace, you’ve used the site in ways we never could have imagined.
Along the way, you have been vocal about what you love about Indaba, what you would like to see changed, and what new features we can add to make your lives easier as musicians.
And we’ve been listening.
In a few weeks we’ll release the first version of the new Indaba Music platform. This release is just the beginning, and we’ll be adding even more great features throughout the remainder of the year. We’ve listened to your needs and we hope you’re as happy with the results as we are.
Thank you for helping us make Indaba Music the amazing community it is today. We’re excited for this next chapter in our journey together.
Indaba Music Founders
Dan, Matt, Mantis, Jesse, Chris

Can't really add much to what has already been said but, I will say if it wasn't for Indaba , I wouldn't have even TRIED to learn how to produce....^_^
So thanks for bringing music back into my life guys. I'll appreciate ANYTHING you guys bring to the new platform.

You guys are my go to site for networking and such. I promote your site like i was getting paid for it. Keep doin what your doing cause its very obvious you guys love music as much as the rest of us.
And to the people who are asking for MIDI and plugins your obviously not understanding. There console is for mixing to allow people to collaborate, not for producers to produce. Sure it can be used that way but its main function is to allow people to post there music and have others add to it. You guys dont need to waste your time upgrading your interface. Its perfect.

Improve the communication, video embed/upload facility. More genre specific categorization. Competitions with more specific briefs. An affiliation with a video makers website. Competitions with computer game developers and movies.
This is just the beginning.

MIDI MIDI MIDI MIDI - Import, export, play recorded (using my local plugins) midi. This would transform your software from a nice idea to be an actual product I would use, without midi it is very limiting.

Just a thought about rick sankey's comment: I don't think anonymous voting would work for a lot of us, because you'd have to listen to all the submissions, and many of us don't have the time to do that.
Anyway, looking forward to the new Indaba!

It's been a great site! I love all the challenges with arranging others' music and the fellow musicians and composers I've met here.
You guys have got the vision! Curious where we're going from here.

you guys have become my go to website for honing my my production skills and i'm looking forward to seeing what you your new platform will offer. and i do have some suggestions.
first, there seems to be a problem w/ mozilla fire fox users in being able to play the submission all the time....i also have trouble reading the comments because comments at the top of the comment box get cut off and the scroll doesn't go that high. i also wonder if it would be possible to see how many hits your rmx submission gets and a running total of 'hot'. not' and 'skipped'.
and one time, just one time i'd like to see a rmx contest that is anonymous.....all votes thru the votealator and you don't know who you are voting for.
in any case , thank you so much for creating this site.....i've been challenged , i'v grown as a musician and i've been touched by the kindness of the indaba community....oh, and i've had a lots of laughs ,

Hey ! That's SO great that you care enough to offer additional help and support for the artists ! We all love you, Indaba Music... ! I've had difficulties using the console, to lay my vocals... I've had many offers to join sessions, but wasn't able to participate, because I need to be educated about working the console/ indaba studio... I'd like to be able to operate, record, and therefore, accept all offers to join others music sessions. Can you provide a step by step console manual for us to learn the operations and follow ? MANY THANKS... !
