I went out on a limb and made a crazy slow jam groove. It lasts a full, glorious 9 minutes and probably won't be for everyone, but check it out and let me know what you think!
Wanted to do a version like 10CC's "I'm Not In Love" but it just didn't work over the whole song... so used it as the intro into the actual remix with hints of Stereolab, Steely Dan and Ornette Coleman.
Loved making this track, Emily Haines's voice is so nice, its like working with a MIDI instrument ! some sweet engineering going on in this track, hope my remix keeps the standard up. Moving onto my next one ... hmmm what track to do now ? ... btw this competition is sweeeeeeet.
Thanks, Had a listen to yours, the mix is nice but its not really my cup of tea, a bit too tech house for me. I heard a remix on here, i forgot who it was though but it was super cut up and i think they are gonna win tbh
but Im glad u like the mix, is really the house way to produce, is a progressive house, really different from the others, everyone use the same BPM so I try to do something on my style, but thanks for ur feedback, appreciate that. ;)
This is good, but the heavy bass buries the vocals...I'd mess with the EQ a bit to bring the high out a little more on the vocals. The lowered bpm is a little distracting in the beginning, but around minutes it really picks up. I really like the back track. Its well put-together, but the mix is off in my opinion. Just a little tweaking in terms of EQ I think would make all the difference. I'm listening on pretty good headphones, and I would never steer you wrong on purpose! This is pretty good.
Thanks hunny, I will go to the studio this week and fix something on the track, I just made the remix yesterday with my headphones, I need listen this on a properly monitor. But thanks for ur Advise, appreciate that. =D
this is awesome!! the places you let it build by itself are the most effective, the only thing i'd offer is that it looses it's momentum in a few places, and it's a little (too?) reliant on the guitar riff.
cheers man! know what you mean about the riff, i recorded the guitar part last, after i had sorted the structure and got carried away jamming it out. I just liked the way it helps the rest of the music build around it. the second riff is just a chopped up version of the first!
