Why dynamics matter: They don't in a remix contest, but when you're making your own edits to play in a club, a smidge of dynamics is good because a good sound system where make it come alive, and be loud enough. But always make sure you're giving your main sounds (vocals in a pop song, drums in a dance song, etc) enough room to hit full power. You can do this with subtle non-pumping side chain compression, and through your composition and arrangement. Make sure you don't have clashing EQs!
