NYC's Phil Moffa aka The Butcha is head of production team/live electronic group Vinyl Life and owner of the newly formed Tape Theory label. His growing arsenal of hardware equipment is the key to his signature sound. After lending a legendary techno wizard his 909, Phil's production methods took a 180. "I considered doing a live PA for a long time, but after hearing Jeff Mills destroy a dancefloor with my 909, I knew that the best sounds come straight from the box and not from the digital samples." Butcha Sound Studios is outfitted with a long list of analog trinkets and no digital sounds go without analog processing and their own discrete mixing board channel. Butcha is currently producing an album for his group Vinyl Life as well as a live show. "What we do on stage is a representation of our studio sessions," he explains. "Vinyl Life is using hardware to perform our tracks to give an energy that is not possible from the dj booth."

Thanks for giving the great opportunity with the contest, i hope seeing more like this in the future....
Hey Phil! Thank you for your comments on my mix (I'm actually just one person)! I appreciate the fact that you took the time to write mini reviews for all the entries. First class all the way!
New to the site and I'm looking to blend my brand of Hip Hop with any collaborators!! Check my page or download my new mixtape from tonystanz.com
Yo! I've listened to your new album twice tonight...Congratulations, you have me at a loss of adjectives, only verbs fit the liveness. I WOULD DO ANYTHING TO TRADE PLACES WITH YOUR MC.

Good seeing you yesterday - looking forward to the vid. Congrats on the A.I.R. spot!
Nice tracks .. I'm feeling them.... Be sure and check out my profile as well as http://www.upperhandentertainment.com where you will find lots of instrumentals and beats by myself and Scorpio..
Thanks for the support!!
Thanks for the kind words. Indeed I am a friend of Mantis, in fact I'm his new intern. So in many ways his student...but also his friend.
those old roland drum machines sure do sound nice and bouncy...
Great to see you at the studio the other week! I am looking forward to the new video!

I finally uploaded a track to my profile, it doesn't really do justice to my content or style but I'm consistent with the energy you hear and tend to switch my flow up a lot more....still, it's not bad for my first time being recorded. Did this back in 2006, just letting loose in the studio. I come in 3rd on the track @ 2:52. First 32 are written, the rest is freestyle. Let me know what you think.
