Rob Flanagan

Born in Preston, raised in Lincoln where I learnt to play drums by tapping biscuits tins with chopsticks to re-runs of The Monkees on TV. Eventually got my own drums and started annoying the neighbours for many years.

After studying for a degree in music at Paul McCartney's luvvie darling fame school (The Liverpool Institute For Performing Arts), I spent 5 months travelling America and living in Newport Beach, outside Los Angeles, playing in cafes and chilling on the beach.

I then moved to London to work with my band, Some Velvet Morning. We signed a record deal with New York independent, Rhythmbank Entertainment in 2005, founded by Vicki Wickham (ex manager of Morrisey, Dusty Springfield) and Nona Hendryx (Labelle, Talking Heads etc). The first single was out on Feb 17th, the next is 'Settle Down' is out now, with an album to follow late summer.
