Hi Kevin, How are you?
Do you have any plans for visiting Canada soon?

Jim Gross wrote on January 20, 2009:

Congratulations Kevin! Great job both in voting ranks and in submitting a fresh and moving entry which caught Mr. Ma's ear! Best to you and your music!! Jim

Props bro!

Wow! This recording should be played as world leaders come together to work on a peace agreement. It is moving and genuine. It envokes that place inside you that remembers what's true.

I really enjoyed listening to your entry. Great Job

Tani W. wrote on January 10, 2009:

What a great arrangement and musicianship! I can hear how much fun you had playing it.
I'll buy your tunes when you record!

Kathryn Mientka wrote on January 8, 2009:

Thank you so much for your kind comments, Kevin! I love your entry, too - when it first came up, I said to my husband, "There's a winner!" (I'm slipping in the ratings, so if you could spare a vote for me....It won't hurt your strong position!!) Take care and stay in touch. -Kathryn

The only other artist I can think of is Miri Ben-Ari. My favorite is her collaboration with Pharoahe Monch called "The Ninth Symphony"...check it out!

Anyways - keep up the good work, and good luck with the contest!

Randy Sutin wrote on January 3, 2009:

I love you arrangement and performance. I voted for you even though you are ahead of me! :) I am a jazz musician, but I work with string players all the time. (I play vibes with Tyrone Brown's String Ensemble.) Perhaps someday we can meet up and work musically.

Best of luck. Peace

Hey Kevin,
Nicely done on the Yo-Yo Ma remix! Your beat boxing sounds awesome, and goes nicely with your overall mix. It sounds great.
Have you ever heard of Black Violin?

Hello, Everyone!

I'm from Kentucky, and I'm a junior at Yale College in New Haven, CT. I graduated from a high school called Phillips Academy in Andover, MA. I transferred during my junior year of high school. Now, I'm a East Asian Studies Major and also fulfilling my pre-med requirements. I love music. It's been something I've done for such a long time, and I always want to get better, listen to more people, and gain more influences so that my music becomes very original and diversified!

I'm also extremely interested in China. I studied abroad for 6 months there, and I hope to go back next year for a whole academic year just to soley improve my Chinese. Such a great language!

Hi Kevin!
Thanks for your message! Aw I love your entry for the YoYo contest, it's awesome! I just posted mine, let me know what you think! It's more classical than metal :P haha... Hip hop is very cool, I got into rock/metal cello through an ex boyfriend that was a guitar player actually :)
