About Me

Skill Level:
Semi-Pro
Craft:
student, songwriter
Instruments:
Piano (All), acoustic guitar, electric guitar, Accordion (All), synthesizer, harmonica, didgeridoo
Genres:
jazz (all), rock, synth rock, choral
Influences:
Sting, Muse, Weather Report, Jean Michel Jarre, Tom Waits, The Police, Miles Davis, David Bowie, Joni Mitchell, Jaco Pastorius, The Mars Volta, michael card, Paul Mccartney, Rage Against The Machine, Steely Dan, Crash Test Dummies, Aphex Twin, U2

I am a physics student, but my real love is music. I've had to learn to do a lot with a little, but I'm satisfied with what I can do. All I have to record with is my school laptop, so I probably won't be contributing to others' recordings, but I want to join a community of musicians. And if someone hears my recordings and likes them, well, then all the better.

Extended

Band or Group:
None, just me. I play and sing for Stevens Instute of Technology.
Favorite Lyric:

I don't know, but Sting wrote it.

Working With Others

How I Work:

I'm still not ready to collaborate on a professional level, since I have studies to attend to, and the poor quality of my recording equipment will be unacceptable to most people's standards. I'm cut out to play in music, but I don't know how well I'd work.

Experience:

I've had a few years of lessons, but mostly experience. Instead of devoting myself to instrument expertise, I've been developing general musicianship. I've been playing for my schools' jazz bands, singing in their choirs. Any paid experience was from friends.

Equipment:

My laptop. For crying out loud, it records its own noises, too.
Epiphone Special II, Austin acoustic-electric, Roland SH-32, Roland JV-1080, MKB-1000, Yamaha DX-9.

I have now actually started a band with a friend of mine. My music is going in a new direction - if I get a chance I'll update this accordingly.

...so much for that! Going home for the summer. I'll see what work I have to upload in the fall.

I am THIS close to adding new version(s) of "Dynamo." I just need to re-record the vocals. I've brought up my mixing quality from, say, a 2 to a 6.

By the looks of these comments, I should probably re-record Frozen Ocean...I've learned a lot about recording and sound since I made it.

Hey W.E.,
Thanks for the comment. Frozen Ocean has a great vibe. Has a nice AIR feel. Keep it up!

Hey! Thanks for the kind words. I added "red-green" to my profile along with 3 other new songs. "Night of the Long Knives(reason)" is more bass beat heavy. I really did "Frozen Ocean" and "Dynamo" very neat stuff! Take care.

By the way, nice stuff!!

Thank you for your nice response. I am working with some live drum tracks for "Kick Around" and I'll post the results.

Yes that´s one of the DVD´s that got lost :( amazing that it´s recorded in 9/11. I think you can see the trumpet player cry. I did to, horrible day for the world. Manu is a great calm person seems really cool. Vinnie is also amazing maybe even better, it´s a tie. :)

Chris Angelo wrote on February 6, 2009:

Yes I to am a huge Sting fan. The Sting DVD with manu playing is absolutely amazing. I lost the DVD though, I wish it´s been remade in Blueray as I will buy it again. I havn´t heard him playing percussion yet though I don´t recal. have any linc?

Chris Angelo wrote on February 5, 2009:

Thank you for your good taste! ;) Once I have more free time I will make that track bloom. People seems to like the beginning of it so far. I really enjoyed Frozen Ocean, very sensitive! Good job!

Look up Manu Katche - Neighbourhood (my favorite drummer) I think you will enjoy it.

Dude! your gonna give me a big head!? Thanks for the very kind words. What would make synths even more awesome is if they came back out with the keytars from the eighties.

Wow. I've been waiting about 18 years for someone to notice that lyric. "Game Music 1" brought to mind an album I haven't listened to in even longer: "Cords" by Synergy (Larry Fast). I also really liked "Frozen Ocean." Thanks!
