Working With Others

How I Work:

I'm interested in working and meeting with other people, preferable local. However i would just general like to enter the music industry and get started. I write my own songs but have not actually studio recorded any of them. However i study music and music and therefore know how to use sibelius, cubase and eurorack MX 32024SX mixing desk, i may have got the name wrong for that, i was trying to think of the top of my head. But anyway, i'm interested in anything really.

Experience:

Like i said, i'm studying music and music technology A'level so i can perform and record/mix/ etc. I have performed on a variety of stages but i want to be getting an album out later this year.

Equipment:

Equipment wise i only have my instruments which are:
Rocket Fender Electric Guitar
Yamaha Acoustic Guitar
Yamaha Drum Kit (black)
Yamaha (i think) Trumpet
French Clarinet (black)
Yamaha Keyboard
2 music stands
1 amp lead
1 fairly small amp 45W
and a variety of cables.
At my place of study, i have access to Cubase Studio 4 and Sibelius.

Hey Cassie, i hardly ever speak/see you any more, but was just wondering if you had any tracks you wanted me to remix? x

Hey Cassie nice to see more music people from Dorset on here. Liked the song ideas, they definitly need professional recording, mixing mastering cause there's good songs just needing a little nudge and they'll make serious grounds. Your passion has nice vibe. Keep loving

Hey there - sorry I didn't reply sooner, I was out of the country and was only rocking dial-up internet, so Indaba was out of the question.

I'm glad you posted some tunes, very nice. What's holding you back from recording the vocals again? It sounds like you just need to take a little more time with them, record at lower levels as well.

I look forward to more, cheers!

:) Cassie, I had a feeling your music was going to be fun to listen to! I love the craftmanship taking place within your art. The melodies overlapping between the guitars, bass guitar and the piano is really cool. Harmony is something I enjoy a lot and your voice along with your instrumentation make a fluid combination. Excellent lyrical story as well. Cassie, well worth the wait indeed. Thanks for sharing your sound and keep doing your thing.

Peace and Rock on,
Allan Blanks

Good luck with the exam Cassie.

Chris K. wrote on May 20, 2009:

Well I got my first studio placement from the message board at college. A recording studio will give you a great insight into the recording process as well as highlight the massive difference between recording and performing live. Many musicians sabotage their demos by insisting they sound like a live performance rather than a record.
Assisting visiting pros meant I was basically an interface for them into our studio. I'd guide them around the patchbay, gear etc often patching outboard in while the where getting on with other work. I would also clean, demag, line up and bias the machines before they arrived so you can imagine how long ago this was. You really pick up amazing stuff of guest engineers. I first discovered the 'nuke mode' on 1176's from guests and the absolute professional way to clean fag ash off a board without getting any in the faders.
As smaller studios are going down it must be getting harder for people like you to get their foot in the door. Also expect very long hours so you can't really double this up with studying unless you just want to be a part time coffee girl.
It's hard work and often with no or little pay, that's why I moved into broadcast. If you are a musician I'd concentrate on that and leave the desk to us geeks, though studio experience will definately help you, especially if you are looking at doing session work

Chris K. wrote on May 19, 2009:

Ah, you're from the UK too? Well I studied at Alchemea in Islington, London. Everything else I picked up working. Assisting pro engineers that came in where a wealth of knowledge while I was a n00b.
And bestest tip of all, make crap coffee ;)

thanks for the tip cassie ;) i went through n found an old blanket and started using it, bit stuffy in there lmao but hey it works
