About Me

Skill Level:
Amateur
Craft:
composer
Instruments:
Midi Controller (All)
Genres:
Alternative, electronica
Influences:
Depeche Mode, The Cure

I'm an amateur musician. I used to play guitar and bass but had a stroke in 2005 and my left hand is not back to the standard required to play, however I don't drool much :-). So now I get my creative kicks by midi sequence programming. I use Ableton Live 7 software for sequencing and recording. I have a M-Audio Delta 1010 interface, several EMU Proteus sound modules, and an unusual AXiS_64 midi keyboard. I try to use my knowledge of real instruments to help me play/program sequences that sound realistic where appropriate, but then also add "electronic" sounds. I would like to meet a "proper" singer, and someone who writes lyrics, possibly an electric guitar player also for an original collaboration.

Favorite Lyric:

Midnight Oil - Put down that weapon
Album: Diesel & Dust

Under the waterline
No place to retire
To another time
The eyes of the world now turn

And if we think about it
And if we talk about it
And if the skies go dark with rain
Can you tell me will our freedom remain

Put down that weapon or we'll all be gone
You can't hide nowhere with the torchlight on
And it happens to be an emergency
Some things aren't meant to be
Some things don't come for free

Above the waterline
Point the finger yeah point the bone
It's the harbor towns
That the grey metal ships call home

And if we think about it
And if we talk about it
And if the seas go boiling black
Can you tell me what you'll do about that

Put down that weapon or we'll all be gone
I must know something to know it's so wrong
And it happens to be an emergency
Some things aren't meant to be
Some things don't come for free

They keep talking about it
They keep talking...

Put down that weapon or we'll all be gone
You must be crazy if you think you're strong

Working With Others

How I Work:

Mostly I have a 8am to 5pm job Monday to Friday. In the evenings I usually find some time to work in my "studio". I don't expect to make money, I'd just like to get named credit and satisfaction.

Experience:

I have played in a few bands through the years but mostly I just played solo, multitracking recordings. My current setup is the most sophisticated I've ever owned. My kids are grown and I have more time and money these days.

Equipment:

I use Ableton Live 7 software for sequencing and recording. I have a M-Audio Delta 1010 interface, several EMU Proteus sound modules, and an unusual AXiS_64 midi keyboard.
