Jackie, just wrote you a long response only to have Firefox crash before I sent..
Anyway, all is fine here, played about 30 gigs since May and the season wraps up at the end of this month so maybe I`ll get back to the Indaba contest thing.
Have you been touring ? What else is up.

Mantis Evar wrote on October 14, 2009:

That was all because of you - THANX!

You are still way cooler than me!

Daniel Ciurlizza wrote on October 13, 2009:

My man, let me tell you... I played that upright bass, yes. But it took an hour and one other person to actually get that recording done. I'm talking about me on the neck holding strings and my friend plucking them. Yes, on that fine night... we both learned that upright bass was not an easy thing to play. And as you can tell, the sacrifice was necessary. Having an electric bass would not have been the same.

So I second your comment... I also wish I could play upright... Correctly.

By the way... what I just told you... that's a secret. hah!

chris conners wrote on October 12, 2009:

Jackie, not only is your playing beautiful, but the arrangements are really smart and dynamic.

Daniel Ciurlizza wrote on October 9, 2009:

And I like bassists that pride themselves on playing in the pocket rather than soloing. Nothing against bassists that solo, of course.

Daniel Ciurlizza wrote on October 9, 2009:

Hey Jackie, I'm sitting here listening to your tracks. I like your style, my friend. I think the fact that you got to meet Marcus Miller is great. He's an amazing bassist.

Anyway, you take care.

Oh and if you get the chance go ahead and listen to some of my tracks. I think you might especially like "Late Nights."

Jackie Clark is the man!!!

I was checking out this new site for bass players called www.notreble.com and Jackie is Featured on the front page!!

Here is a direct link to the profile http://www.notreble.com/buzz/2009/10/06/player-spotlight-jackie-clark/

Way to go Brutha! You're a fantastic player and deserve the attention. We are proud to have you a member of the Indaba community!

Xico S. wrote on August 27, 2009:

Jackie, thank you so much for your comments on my tracks! They really mean a lot, coming from such a player like you. And yes, that was an instrumental cover from Richard Bona's song, great musician, also had the pleasure of watching him live in concert and on a workshop. And yes, i totally ripped of that groove from Pino.. busted! ahaha

Eddy J Free wrote on August 12, 2009:

hey jackie it's been a while. how are you? i hope all is well. great work on the shifty remix, i've just entered the shine 4u remix not my usual style but i enjoyed it hit back peace as always, keep doing your thing.

Livingtolove I. wrote on July 11, 2009:

Hi Jackie, :)

Thank you for the kind words. Yes my 5 string Dingwall was used on "Rain Trance", and "When you can't tell the Difference". It's a fantastically easy bass guitar to play due to low action and very even string tension, and it does sound great. It's the only 5 string I've ever played where the tension of the B string feels pretty much the same as the other strings, and it tone matches the others also. So it can be played as much as I desire without it sounding out of place. "A Brid at Sea" was recorded with my Yamaha fretless 5 string.

Looks like you have a nice collection of basses yourself. :D

Peace & Love

I listened to your profile music and must say, sweet sounds here- Definately smooth & versitile. I could learn much from you!

david minnick wrote on June 16, 2009:

Thanks Jackie!
One can never be too sure with these things...I was biting my nails right up 'till the announcement. There were quite a few really good mixes involved (yours, of course, being one of them)it all depended on where the judges stood.
Congratulations to you too!!! As always, you have my sincerest thanks for the support!

Hey Jackie!
Once again, your Shifty mix was fantastic! I'm glad you ended up in the top 5 (2nd no less)...and you were all worried! It's a really solidly-put-together piece! I enjoyed the advantage of having other musicians play on mine who also told THEIR friends to vote. However, that also means that if there's any prize $ to be had, it gets split 5 ways.
Great work! I look forward to hearing more of your creations!
David

GREAT WORK ON THE "SHIFTY" REMIX!

William Hartanovich wrote on May 23, 2009:

Sorry I didn't listen to that earlier haha. Now that I know it was intentional, it changes my perception. I wish I could play bass, or guitar for that matter. I always try to give some constructive criticism whenever I comment. I'm glad you took it as such. Good luck with the contest!

david minnick wrote on May 20, 2009:

Hey Jackie! Thanks for taking the time to listen and for the nice comment! You are, without a doubt, a great bassist!! I think it's wonderful that you're able to earn your entire living playing the instrument you love...I hope someday (before I'm 70) to compose/arrange for my entire living. The day jobs have been wearing me down for over a decade. (let me know if you or somebody you play with need arrangements for anything....any style, any instruments.) I look forward to hearing your remix..wanna trade votes?
