In a former life I was an experimental musician... and by former life I mean before life forced me to be more responsible financially. Regardless, just because I've stepped away from making music doesn't mean I don't still love it and hope to one day return to it.
By profession I work in the online world - search engines, social media, mobile technology. So when I see a site like Indaba Music merging both online technology and music collaboration I am truly excited.
My goal of using this site spans out beyond my own ambitions as a musician. Ideally, I'd like to discover interesting and inspiring artists and, if my knowledge of technology can somehow fit into the big picture, I'd like to help those musicians make a living outside of the record label universe.
So let's see what happens...

I saw Satan on the beach trying to catch a ray. He wasn’t quite the speed of light and, the squirming coil, it got away. - Phish

- How I Work:
For the time being I'm just interested in exploring Indaba Music, meeting people, and trying to see how I can help and where I fit in.
By profession I do web marketing / web development, and by hobby I'm always exploring new media like video and mobile platforms... so maybe I can help artists to use modern tools to promote themselves in some way or another.
Or perhaps I can just help by educating people too. I'm not sure, let's just see what happens...
- Experience:
I've played the fundamental rock instruments since I was 16 - Guitar, bass, drums. I'm a better than average guitar and bass player but limited on drums.
I've played in a few extremely experimental bands. I get bored easily so music that pushes boundaries is where I am happiest.
I stumbled into web marketing while learning to build a website for my band at the time. Building a website is fine but if no one visits the site then what's the point? That's where marketing comes in. Anyway, long story short now I do web marketing for a living.
- Equipment:
I do still have a Les Paul studio guitar. and a Fender Acoustic. But in general, I gave all my equipment to one of my best friends and fellow musicians, jjmac. You can find his musical explorations on his blog at www.afewzen.com.
