About Me

Skill Level:
Amateur
Craft:
songwriter, composer, musician, singer
Instruments:
Bass, voice, voice (backing), nylon guitar (classical), electric guitar, acoustic guitar
Genres:
rock, acoustic rock, hard rock, metal, punk rock, alternative rock, hardcore, baroque, pop rock, grunge
Influences:
The Beatles, The Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, NOFX, Pixies

Im not a professional musician, nor do I intend to ever be (unfortunately). This is my hobby, but dont confuse that with thinking Im not serious about it though. I love to play music and compose, write songs, etc. My tastes are a bit varied but from lighter type of rock to much heavier stuff I stay pretty much exclusively within the range of the wide spectrum that is the "rock" genre.

The instrument I prefer to play is guitar, 'rhythm' (or 'second') guitar specifically. I really have no lead guitar ambitions (nor abilities consequently). Bass is also fun. Yeah I really like to play music and to sing but Im much more driven by the prospect of writing than performing.

I have some material Ive been working on for some time and every once in a while I come up with new things, so some of my pieces are incomplete, or fragmentary. Ive written many more songs than I have uploaded here to my profile but regretably I lack the proper time and resources presently to make good recordings, which is frustarating.

Considering that the recordings Ive posted here are the equivalent of rough sketches of what the songs should sound like..., if anybody thinks Im on to something interesting with any of my work they are more than welcome to collaborate and give ideas, comments, etc. It would also be flattering and welcome if my style is appreciated enough by anybody to ask me for the same of their work.

Extended

Favorite Lyric:

"Throw down your umbilical noose so I can climb right back" from the song 'Heart-Shaped Box', written by Kurt Cobain, performed by Nirvana.

"All the lonely people, where do they all come from? All the lonely people, where do they all belong?" from the song 'Eleanor Rigby' written by Paul McCartney, and performed by the Beatles.

"You can never ever leave without leaving a piece of youth" from the song 'Tonight, Tonight' written by Billy Corgan and performed by the Smashing Pumpkins.

"Living makes me sick, so sick I wish I'd die" from the song 'Jellybelly' written by Billy Corgan and performed by the Smashing Pumpkins.

"Blast oxygen masks, smoke filled cabin
Depressurized, dont be afraid, hold onto me
Were going down, but not our love
Death dont seem so bad, cause Im with you
My only love, so close your eyes
Kiss me one last time, were gonna die
but not our love, not our love"
The song 'Falling in Love' written by Mike Burkett (Fat Mike) and performed by NOFX.

Working With Others

How I Work:

I try to be a perfectionist as far as fulfilling my ideas, but in general I also consider it important to explore ideas from perspectives other than my own. I am primarily interested in developing my own work, but would be delighted to work on others' projects as well, especially if a continuous and exciting musical partnership is developed with any individual/s.

By far Ive mostly worked by myself, I havent had the chance to work with a lot of people but it could be really interesting. I find it difficult to find people with tastes close to mine though. Theres abilities I dont posses that I often think could go well with some of my music, or qualities like a female voice, etc.

One thing I thought would be a good idea was to form a sort of joint solo projects band, meaning a group of 3-4 people who each can play a different instrument to always play together but then also each one compose about as many pieces as the other. Its pretty much the same concept as a regular band but more diverse and stimulating than having the usual one person do all the writing and/or singing and everyone else just plays along.

Experience:

Playing guitar since 1995, electric/acoustic. Writing music since 1996. High-school rock band (1998-1999). Playing by myself since.
