Genres:

Hailing from Toronto. Jamesking, founded by Musician and composer Damir “Duff” Demirovic, is a melodic and lyrical fusion of the Pop, R&B and Funk genres. Inspired by a time when popular R&B/Funk was a means of musical expression and not just a formula, Jamesking creates intricate, smooth, hip and relevant music.

Jamesking was formulated by 5 experienced and highly coveted musicians and songwriters; Ran Caspi on bass, Ilian Iliev on keys, Vlada Mladenovic on percussion, Damir Demirovic on guitar and the sultry lead vocals of Gyles. Each member brings different skills and passions to the table and together they define the unique sound of Jamesking.
Jamesking is just the right mix of old school R&B/funk with a modern pop twist to be something new.

Already on the Toronto R&B scene, Gyles has performed with Juno-award nominees Jully Black, Camille Douglas and graced Carlos Morgan’s first single “Baby C’mon” appearing on Groove Essentials, Vol 1. Her career includes performances across Southern Ontario as both back up and lead vocalist. Taking the opportunity to join Jamesking in 2007, Gyles rounds out Jamesking’s signature sound and offers the audience a soulful and unforgettable experience every time.

With a complete CD of 9 full length songs Jamesking has had the pleasure of performing at some of Toronto’s finest landmark venues such as, The Opera House, Lee’s Palace, Reverb, Trane Studio, and Clinton’s Tavern, all known for hosting local and international concerts. The 2008 Canadian Music Week featured Gyles as she opened for M.O.P. & hip hop legend KRS 1 alongside Alex Dimes.

In June of 2008, Jamesking released their first video “Gold” which has received rave reviews in the media. Jamesking placed 2nd place in the 2008 Mix 99.9 Canadian Radio Star Songwriting Competition and was also nominated for a 2008 Canadian Independent music award.
Jamesking also headlined the Montreal Funk Festival this summer. In addition Jamesking has obtained international TV publishing and licensing agreements that have exposed Jamesking’s music to larger audience. Jamesking’s music has been featured in Spain, the US (WVOF 88.5 FM KFJC 89.7 FM and many more), the UK, Italy, Holland and Canada.

Jamesking is building a strong online reputation for itself on popular online communities such as Facebook and MySpace. As these 5 musicians continue to launch their sound to the world, Jamesking is proving they are Toronto’s newest R&B sensation.
