I live in Galway, Ireland. Have been playing various styles/instruments for a few years but want to settle down and start putting tracks down. I have many riffs & musical patterns but I really don't have the compositional skill to make songs yet. I like just jamming on riffs etc. but I'd be really interested if anyone would like to try writing music together. I think we could have great fun learning good song structure & more structured improvisation.
I like -
Melody driven music
Music which doesn't rely on vocals to be interesting
Polyrhythmic playing on ALL instruments (not just percussion)
And most importantly: Having a good time, learning new ways to think about music and helping out anyone who wants it.
- How I Work:
If someone has a riff/structure/set of lyrics/percussion pattern : Jam it a little bit, everyone taking turns to move it to something else (Record or write down what changes are made). Then instruments down, write down what's good about the previous work. Put rough structures together, replay a few times (Record and give each member a copy). Each member go and brainstorm a little on their own, meetup again, discussion and group brainstorm.
After that... I dunno? Be awesome and play deadly tunes?!
