Recording artist, saxophonist and composer Greg Osby has recorded and toured with such diverse artists as Herbie Hancock, Dizzy Gillespie, Jack DeJohnette, Andrew Hill, Muhal Richard Abrams, Jim Hall and Jaki Byard. He has performed with Dr. Billy Taylor's "Jazz at the Kennedy Center", which is broadcast on NPR. Mr. Osby is a four time winner of the prestigious Jazz Journalists Award and is a recent recipient of the Doris Duke Foundation award for composers.

In addition to his performance schedule, Osby devotes a generous amount of his time to educational activities. He was an adjunct faculty member in the jazz program at The Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland from 2000 to 2003, a faculty member of the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and the New School in New York and has hosted clinics and lectures at some of the most prestigious music conservatories in the world. The residency included a commission of a new work, which Osby and his quartet premiered at the closing concert.

Osby continues to tour with his primary groups the "Greg Osby Five", "Channel 3" and "Symbols of Light", an eight piece string and jazz ensemble. He has earned numerous awards, and critical acclaim for his recorded works and exciting live performances.

Working With Others

How I Work:

I begin with short sketches and germs of ideas that have been documented on manuscript paper, note pads or sung into a recording device (usually my mobile phone, laptop, iPod or minidisc.) I usually work them out on piano or on my horn. They are then transferred to Logic Audio (my favorite) and are further developed.in score form and fine tuned before being presented to my g band.

Experience:

Lots, but always in need of more.

Equipment:
Things and stuff.... and even more things. (most of which is either obsolete or in need of repair.)
Payments:
