The Success of Failure

About Me

Skill Level:
Amateur
Instruments:
acoustic guitar, electric guitar
Genres:
rock, progressive rock
Influences:
Genesis (With Peter Gabriel), Pink Floyd, Steve Hackett, Marillion, Radiohead

Too old and too ugly to be a modern music star, I keep myself sane ( and off the streets ) by strumming my old guitar and writing my own tunes.

Extended

Favorite Lyric:

Don't be surprised when daylight comes
To find that memory prick your thumbs
You'll tell them where we run to hide
I'm already dead
It's a matter of time

Shorter of breath
And one day closer to death

So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell
Blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail ?
A smile from a veil ?
Do you think you can tell ?

And did they get you to trade
Your heroes for ghosts ?
Hot ashes for trees ?
Hot air for a cool breeze ?
Cold comfort for change ?
And did you exchange
A walk on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage ?

How I wish, how I wish you were here
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl
Year after year,
Running over the same old ground
What have we found ?
The same old fears
Wish you were here

Working With Others

Experience:

I've been playing for about 20 years, nothing serious, and always solely for the pleasure. I started paying mostly because I wanted to learn to play an instrument, but also because it was good therapy - I have muscle and tendon damage in both forearms due to sporting injuries, and arthritis in my fingers ( hence no blistering solos ). Therefore, playing guitar was a good way to keep my hands active - in a way that was acceptable to do in public.
I've played in a couple of bands, but sometimes found that playing a 2 hour gig would lead to my hands cramping up. That - and the constant personality clashes - mean I'm far more happier simply recording my own tunes, at my own pace, in my own time. And the only person I can blame if it goes wrong is me.

Equipment:

Gordon Smith GS1 LH

Thanks for the kind words :)
The first half of Nest of Vipers (pt 1) is moving -- dark and dramatic. I'm looking forward to hearing session products from you!
