He is the versatile keyboardist of the day - Samar, Samar Roy. "Music flows in my blood", Samar reminisces " From my childhood, I learnt classical Tabla from my teacher Tapan Dey and at the same time, Piano from "Mr.Pranab Basu". "Soon I was ready for formal training in Classical Music. My first stage performance was at the age of ten, with my teacher beside me." And thus the journey began through the rough water. It is like a voyage through the ocean of music which has engulfed his days and nights. Now the music studio is his home - the musicians are his family members. To meet the rising demand, he needs to record every hour - for albums, advertising jingles. During the nights he is on the move from one town to another to perform on-stage Today Samar Roy is the heart-throb of the young and loved by all. The name Samar Roy breathes an astounding versatility of self-_expression as a musician, an educationist and a music composer and conductor. Samar Roy's quest for knowledge and desire to become a complete musician brought him close to many versatile and learned minds. His interest in different spheres in music helped him to acquire knowledge at length. THE MUSICIAN Samar Roy began performing from as early as 7 years and earned his first recognition in the form of the "Junior National Scholarship" followed by the " Senior National Scholarship" in music. His talent has been taking him across the globe for more than a decade to Europe, USA and Canada where he has participated in in numerous concerts and major music festivals THE EDUCATIONISTS Along with being a highly acclaimed musician Samar Roy has built himself a separate identity as a regular academic instructor in premier universities not only in India but also abroad. He has the distinction of using the latest available technology, namely, computers to teach and spread the message of music across the globe.
