I'm a New Yorker, and I play guitar and bass. I've mastered a good many styles -- e.g. folk, country, pop, rock -- while a good many others remain Greek to me. Strong rhythm player. Very direct lead player, without much frou-frou: I tend to go after a melody and then develop its various components. It worked well for Bach, which should be a sufficient recommendation for anyone.
I tend to prefer clean guitar -- my favorite effect, in recording, is to shoot the signal over to the opposite side with about a 28-ms delay, as in the old Miles Davis recordings. Choruses, phasers, tube overdrives are all okay but deserve sparing usage, like any spice.
- Favorite Lyric:
She's got a competition clutch and a four on the floor
And she purrs like a kitten till the Lake pipes roar.
- How I Work:
TBD
- Experience:
40 years guitar playing, lots of theory, lots of rubbing-away of sharp musical opinions in bands and other collaborations.
- Equipment:
Main Axe = '72 Telecaster with Barden pickups; others include Strat, mid-50's Epiphone Broadway -- I generally record using either a Pod Pro or UA 610 as a DI.
Acoustics = Gitane D500 Salmer copy, various Guilds -- preferred recording method these days is a mid-side configuration using a Rode NK2 and Cascade Fathead.
