Ryan Vaughn is an exciting young drummer/percussionist climbing the ranks of the New York scene. At the age of twenty-three Ryan is already making a reputable name for himself as a drummer, percussionist and musician.
Ryan began his musical career like most -- in the public school system. Ryan Played with his high school jazz band and some local "all-star" jazz bands throughout the Southwest. Ryan is considered a notable alumni of such bands as the AZ All-Star Jazz Band, the Sedona Jazz on the Rocks Youth Band, and the Prescott High School (PHS) Jazz Band.
Ryan decided to continue his education at Mesa Community College (MCC) under the direction of trumpet savant, Fred Forney. During his three years at MCC Ryan played various bands, including The Maricopa Jazz Orchestra, the IAJE International Community College All-Stars, the Youngsounds of AZ, ASU and MCC Combos and Big Bands, et al. Ryan finished his three years at MCC in 2004 earining two Associate degrees (an AA and AGS) in Jazz Performance.
In the fall of 2004 Ryan transferred to William Paterson in Wayne, NJ (WPUNJ), which is considered by many educators to be one of the top jazz programs in the country. In the Spring of 2006, Ryan successfully finished his BM in Jazz Performance at WPUNJ.
While at WPUNJ Ryan had the pleasure of studying with numerous teachers and educators, including: Horacee Arnold, Bill Goodwin, Kevin Norton, Rich DeRosa, Don Braden, Steve LaSpina, and Mulgrew Miller.
Ryan has studied with many drummers/musicians in AZ and the NYC area, such as: Jonathan Lerner, Mel Zelnick, Dom Moio, Steve Ferrone, Keith Carlock, Shawn Pelton, John Riley, Steve Davis, Rob Schuh, Fred Forney, and the WPUNJ faculty.
Over the years Ryan has performed with numerous accomplished musicians, including: Fred Forney, Bob Sheppard, Dan Haerle, Dan Faulk, Zirque Bonner, Dan Faulk, Bryce Winston, et al. Ryan has also hd the pleasure of sharing the stage with some of jazz's biggest stars at major jazz festivals including the Sedona Jazz Festival in AZ and the Telluride Jazz Festival in CO. Some of the musicians Ryan has shared the stage with include: Joshua Redman, Bob Mintzer, Rich Perry, Pete McGuinness, Trey Henry, Jim Snidero, Larry Koonse, Gary Lindsay, et al.
Ryan is currently planning on continuing his journey in the NY music scene. Keep an eye for him with various singer/songwriters and upcoming jazz acts, such as: Jill Stevenson, Dave Pittenger, Rebecca Haviland, Dan Weiss & Ina May Wool, Benjamin Wagner, Chris Abad, Ian Jeffreys, Swampadelica, Seth Kallen, Andy Mac, et al.

Lots of experience as professional musician. I play 5-6 nights a week in NYC... just come see a show.

I play full trap set for many different singer/songwriters and bands. I also play a hybrid percussion setup consisting of a bajo cajon and various hand percussion.
