A little bit about myself. . . I was born and raised in Toronto, Canada but am now residing in Saitama, Japan with my beautiful wife and son. I started playing guitar at the age of nine but I don't ever really remember a time when music wasn't a big part of my life. I suppose I have my folks to thank for that. Thanks, folks! Over time I picked-up some other instruments: flute, mandolin, lap-steel guitar, harmonica, but acoustic guitar is still my main thing. I've met and played with lots of great people in the 20 or so years since I started playing live. In addition to the three bands I was part of in Toronto (Orphan Lake; lead guitar, mandolin and backing vocals, Manfred John Company; lap-steel guitar, mandolin, flute and vocals, Temper; lead guitar and vocals) I consider myself fortunate to have shared the stage with such notables as Lowest of the Low, Ron Hawkins and the Rusty Nails, Martin Tielli and Dave Badini of the Rheostatics, Tyler Stewart of the Barenaked Ladies, Hugh Marsh, Sour Landslide, Andy Cash and Art Bergman, to name but a few. Although I've played lots of different styles of music (rock, folk-rock, blues, acoustic) I still call myself a "folk" musician because I've always tried to be honest in my craft. I've always tried to make music that comes from some part inside of me. This is what I think "folk" music is; it can take on many forms, come from many different places, but if it comes from inside then it's "folk" in my books.
