About Me

Skill Level:
Professional
Craft:
producer, recording engineer, musician, writer, composer
Instruments:
electric guitar, drums, electric bass, keyboard
Genres:
rock, alternative rock, punk, classical, worship
Influences:
John Williams, Danny Elfman, Daniel Lanois, Eric Johnson, Toto, Michael Landau, Dann Huff, Jeff Beck

I actively compose and produce music for a variety of projects that range from Jingles and audio ads, albums and such, to music for film and graphic media.

Composition styles range from "classical" to contemporary. I am not prolific in R&B, Rap, Urban, Hip-Hop and the likes. Nor am I a Jazz musician, though I am schooled in it to some degree.

As you'll note from the selections above, the ranges are in classical and contemporary rock and instrumental (non-jazz).

I own a ProTools HD3 system for recording, and I do the majority of my work in my home studio where the system resides.

I'm most interested in working on projects that sync to Film and Visual Arts, such as "webisodes."

Paul Simon: He backed back down the alley with some rolly polly back faced girl, and all along, all along, there were incidents and accidents, hints and allegations.

Working With Others

How I Work:

I am first and foremost a consultant to those that wish to engage in the recording process. Typically, many clients have ideas as to what they want to accomplish, but little direction as to how to go about producing the music they want to accompany their visual work. Typically, clients just tell me what they need, and I develop a plan to fulfill that need.

I work with each client to develop a budget as well. Depending on the needs, I either charge a flat fee for service, charge an hourly rate, or work on a royalty (synch, mechanical, radio, etc.) basis for much of the work. Any original compositions I create I retain ownership of, and license the use as appropriate to the client.

Experience:

I have actively worked in the recording industry since 1998, at the age of 17. Nearly all of my experience is within the confines of the recording studio. I am not a performer, nor do I wish to be one (other than playing guitar for worship at church, which I love).

My primary experience is in composing and recording original music (either mine or the compositions of others), and assisting others in the recording process.

I am available for hire as a producer, composer, engineer, arranger, and musician (guitar).

Equipment:

Primary system is a ProTools HD3 system situated in my home studio. I use all Focusrite pre-amps. I also have a complete six piece Yamaha Recording Custom drumset, various guitars and basses, and a Yamaha 88-key S-90 Keyboard. I use a variety of "soft-synth" programs for the majority of my sounds, though.

Microphones include:

1 Neumann M-149
2 Neumann TLM-103's
1 Cascade X-15 Stereo Ribbon Mic
1 RCA 74B (1930's model) Working
8 AKG 419's
1 AKG Perception 200
1 Shure SM-57
2 AKG D-112's
1 Webster Chicago (c1920) Working

Extremely loaded on TDM and RTAS plug-in's for mixing.

Bias Peak Mastering and Editing software on two systems.

Remote Macintosh Recording system using ProTools LE and M-Box Pro (more used for editing small voice over jobs for audio ads while on the road).

Miroslav Orchestra System for orchestra scoring & production.
