I make my music with Garage Band. The files come out finished as .aiff files. I have a program that converts them to .MP3 files called Music Man. However, the site does not seem to accept them, even after conversion. Any tips? How do I get some songs on this site?

Hmmm. That's interesting. Anything mp3 that has the .mp3 extension after it should upload and work just fine. Apple often uses m4a which is like an mp3 in size but it has Apple's DRM embedded in it and won't work on Indaba (or most other places besides your Mac and your iPod). I haven't experienced the problem with GarageBand but I'll try it out right now and let you know what I find. If you are comfortable sending me your music via email it would be great to have one of the exact files your working with to test it out. You can send it to me at dan@indabamusic.com. This is a piece we are still working on and we appreciate the feedback. Thanks!

Galen,
I figured out a way to convert your songs easily for Indaba.
1) Choose "Send to iTunes" from GarageBand it will import into iTunes as an AIFF.
2) Go to your preferences and change (or make sure) your settings for importing are set to mp3.
3) Go back to the file and select Convert to mp3 under the Advanced tab. This will give you an MPEG Layer 3 (mp3).
I know this is a bit of a process but unfortunately Apple hasn't made it easy to get regular old mp3s. Let me know if that helps - and if you are still interested in why the other ones wouldn't work you could send me the mp3 you made and I can look into it deeper.
