Working With Others

How I Work:

I don't want to be payed. I can record anything you want (within reason) at my home-studio, and give it to you online.

Experience:

I'm classically trained, so I know a lot about songwriting. On my guitar I can play rock, and do blues improv. On my bass I can play rock, jazz, blues, and hip hop, I also know basic slapping. I can play classical piano, and I own a midi keyboard and a basic yamaha synth, so I can add keys to a song. I write and produce all of these styles, and I can also play jazz and classical clarinet, so if you wanted something jazzy, I'm the right chap.

Equipment:

Fender Squire Stratocaster guitar, Ibanez Soundgear GIO bass guitar, Spanish acoustic guitar, Ikea acoustic guitar, Yamaha DD55 digital drum kit, M-AUDIO Keystation 49e midi keyboard, Yamaha E403 Keyboard, Famaprem MC-455 microphone, Apple MacBook with GarageBand & Logic Pro.

Hey Eddie. My recording software expired its 30 day trial. But I'm acquiring another version of the same software. I will have a guitar solo and the song edited by Friday.

Hey Eddie! I have been really busy lately studying for my medical admissions test so I apologize for being inactive for so long. However, tonight I will see if I can lay down a solo for the end of "We Will be Together"- perhaps a little electric organ. I will let u know when I upload. Peace!

I may add djembe to it, but depending on how it sounds, I might not. For the moment, I am concentrating on making "We Will be together" a little longer, with an instrumental portion to finish it off. I just want to hear your bassline before I start improvising, so that it already has a texture. Sounds good Eddie, look forward to hearing from you!

Hey Eddie, how's it going?

Carlos A. wrote on May 24, 2009:

I just started working on the song. The song starts out with a wah sound...almost like reggae, but more like funk. Then I dive into the lyrics. At the end of about 1:50 of singing, I stop...that will be our cue to just improvise as best we can. I'll see if I can find a drummer tomorrow. Have a good night!

That works man, no problem. I will try to upload something by next Friday. I am a premedical student, so I will be working on my application all next week, which won't leave me much time to record. However, I am taking a day off every week (6 days of work, and 1 off), so I will have time to edit/work on songs then. Thanks for the links for the drummers, and look forward to hearing from you sometime next Friday.

Sounds good Eddie. Yeah, I will look for drummers too. Let me know if you find a good one that fits the genre description on the session name.

Oh yeah and I forgot to mention: we could reserve one part of the song where we can just improvise (I can lay down the rhythm, and you improvise on the bass, and then we can switch off where I can improvise on the guitar). Let me know if this works for you.

Carlos A. wrote on May 22, 2009:

Ok here's my idea: we could both lay down an instrumental where I can start out with guitar and/or keyboard, and yes, it would be good if you wrote the bassline rather than improvise in this session. After making the instrumental parts, I could add vocals if needed (depending on how good it sounds already). I also heard in the songs on your webpage that you play drums as well. Do you think you could add drums to the mix? Thanks for the comment, and look forward to working with u.

Hey Eddie! I like the bass that you added to my song "Snowy" I especially like the slap part. I am a bass player myself, so I know a good bassist when I hear one. You may already know, but "Snowy" is just kind of a prototype song that I posted on the website as sort of my "audition" song. Would you like to start a new session, where I would record the same- either keyboard or guitar and vocals? I would also be interested in perhaps starting out with a purely instrumental song, where we can just improvise on it. Please let me know. It's good to hear from you!
