Mario Spinetti grew up in the backstage wings of opera houses, which led him to arrange, direct, and perform musical compositions for major TV networks as well as taking a solo bow at Carnegie Hall before he was 16.

Critics often invoke Jeff Buckley, Rufus Wainwright, and Freddie Mercury when they try to characterize his voice. Ultimately though, most listeners agree that his instrument, style, and material are completely unique -- that his "avant-pop" is something substantial, waiting only to be discovered.
