About Me

Craft:
musician, composer, producer
Instruments:
percussion, piano
Genres:
jazz (all), rock, funk (all), experimental
Influences:
Lousi K, Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus, John Coltrane, Talking Heads, Tom Waits, David Bowie, Miles Davis, Funkadelic, Frank Zappa

A professional jazz drummer since sixteen, Xavier studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston and the Creative Music Studio in Woodstock, New York.

In 1982, Xavier and Glenn Feit (Red Hot Chili Peppers, David Byrne) co-produced an EP, “The King Has Come,” with Xavier and the Messengers. The album received an “Editor’s Choice” review from Downbeat Magazine. The EP will be re-released Summer 2007 celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the 4 song new wave retro 80's classic.

My music is now based out of San Francisco-Bay Area and it reaches out to the innovative and the original, weaving the threads of difference genres to create a new sound and a new musical landscape. The release, “The XMan Cometh, Expect the Unexpected,” features The XMan, an emcee of sorts, who boldly questions the socio-political quo.
Some songs dark, some just plain fun, The XMan delivers hope and a call for personal and socio-political change in a fast and complex world.
