Studio Mali is a studio and musician's cooperative located in Bamako, Mali West Africa. Our mission is to make great music and connect musicians from the region of West Africa with artists all over the world. "Making it" as an artist is a struggle no matter where you live, and it is particularly difficult in Africa. Work is scarce and poorly paid (Mali's per capita income ranks among the lowest in the world), yet there is no shortage of talented musicians in Mali and throughout the region. We are rich in culture. The Indaba model opens up the possibility for session musicians to work on projects without having to leave their motherland. Work visas to developed countries are nearly impossible to obtain for the average West African artist. Thanks Indaba for this wonderful initiative. We are ready to collaborate with the world.
