With his first album release “Never Ending Aftermath” hitting college radio last year, Matt Powers made his presence known on the Indie Rock scene immediately. After years playing in the indie/alt. rock band, The Cringe, and 3 albums with them, Matt went to Oliver Strauss of Mission Sound in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and made a beautiful collection of tunes.
After a year of working on his own material, Matt is ready again to work on another album. The sound is more modern than the last album and reflects much more of the increasing visibility of Indie Rock in the global market especially in its relationship to Europe.
Matt is located just north of Fresno, California while he works on his second album at his studio in Coarsegold.
Matt also plays bass for hire and can play: All forms of Rock, Blues, Funk, Pop, Soul, R&B, Hip Hop, etc. Matt's played with Shawn Pelton (SNL, Sheryl Crow, Kelly Clarkson, Levon Helms), Billy Gibbons of ZZTop, James Rotondi (Air, Mr. Bungle, Grassy Knoll, The Bad Eliots), Daniel Carter (Test, Sun-Ra), Matt Katz-Bohen (Daddy, Blondie), Ty Dennis (Riders on the Storm, Firebug) and more.

- How I Work:
If I was to work through Indaba on bass and guitar I would price my work on a case by case basis, but in general I'm just interested in meeting and working with new people on my own material on indaba. I will consider bass requests on a case by case basis also.
- Experience:
Bass Player for the Cringe (2003 - 2008). Recorded 3 albums with them, 2 are released: Tipping Point (SonyRED/ListenRecords 2007) and Scratch the Surface (ListenRecords 2003).

- Equipment:
I usually go with a Fender Jazz bass (US) with round wound strings through an Ampeg of some sort, older the better. That's for fingers. For pick, I use an 80's custom Schecter P-Bass with LaBella flat wound strings... and put that through an Ampeg. I usually use a SansAmp DI tube emulator too.
