Genres:

Solas

I am a classically trained pianist who has always been interested in Celtic and world music. My cellist husband Tyme and I, together with drummer David Alderdice, formed the Celtic band FEAST 4 years ago. We are based in Grand Junction, Colorado, and our website is www.musicbyfeast.com
In addition, my husband and I direct a classical chamber music series, the Western Slope Chamber Music Series, and we present six concerts yearly in Grand Junction and Paonia. We have also recently teamed up with South West Ballet and put on a full Nutcracker Ballet with orchestra, which my husband conducted. The website for our concert series is; www.primamusic.org
My husband and I toured Europe (with our cello-piano classical duo) and lived in Germany for 8 years before moving to Colorado to settle down and raise our three kids. An hour-long documentary about our cello-piano "MIENTKA DUO" was aired on PBS and nominated for an Emmy in 1995. We have been aired on NPR's "Performance Today" a number of times.

You look like you might be interested in a Celtic group too:

Too bad I can't find a track from you or your band, all of your comments sound great.

Hi Kathryn--I joined because I saw the Yo Yo Ma contest, too, but it was already closed when I saw the announcement. But I was interested in the site...much to browse through and figure out! I do have a web site: www.marashea.com, and one for a band I am half of: www.elftones.com. I'd like to hear more of your music, too!

Till soon,
Mara

Hi Kathryn, I just sent you a vote from my wife. I have spent way too much time trying to drum up votes to make top 10 – time to throw in the towel for me. This contest has made me new friends and helped renew old acquaintances (that’s the best part)! Your entry is the best! I hope you win! Jim

Hi, Mrs. Mientka. I heard your submission...it's fabulous! I like how varied the styles are, especially the middle eastern one! That's definitely my favorite part, as i will have to second Jim Gross on that! Congrats on all your previous success and on this arrangement of Dona Nobis Pacem!

Hey Kathryn-

I've been down with a bad cold for several days - sorry for not getting back to you sooner.

Thanks so much for the tip about the website. I'll see if I can set that up. Also went to your website. Very neat!

Your a sweetheart-
Nancy

I just sent thru a vote for you Kathryn, I didn't know until a while ago that we can vote for more than just ourselves. Best luck! Jim

Hi Kathryn, I just listened to your submission - it was awesome. Alot of arrangement and work went into it. Especially enjoyed the middle eastern part. Best Luck with the contest! Jim

Hey Kathryn-
I finally found your submission - it's wonderful! You must have put a huge amount of work into that. And the jig is great! I look forward to hearing more of your music.

My website is: www.nancyconescu.com

I don't know exactly what condition it's in. It's a relatively new website and still has a few bugs. There are currently no photos in the photo gallery, and my bio has disappeared. But I think the sound and lyric samples are up if you want to check them out.

thanks so much for getting in touch. Let me know how to find your website as well.

thanks again - your entry is beautiful!
Nancy

Thanks so much for your kind thoughts! It was a pleasure to hear from you. I'm new to Indabamusic, so I'm having trouble locating your submission. I did find your profile, however. I noticed you mentioned Solas as a major influence. I know John Doyle and Karan Casey quite well. They're old friends and wonderful musicians to boot! Can you send me the URL to your submission? I'd love to hear it.

Thanks-
Nancy Conescu

Hi Kathryn, Thanks for the nice comments. Love your arrangement - and we both ended with Jigs! I just signed up with Indaba for the contest, so I don't kow about any of the features yet - but you can always contact me at barryp@got.net. All the best, Barry
