Hello I'm Octavio Cano. I was born in Dominican Republic were I started my music studies and then keeping with my studies ended up on Berklee College of Music which I became alumni in '08. I couldn't group my influences really well because my taste seems pretty ambiguous and eclectic in result of my nomadic lifestyle. I'm also a big fan of couchsurfing.com which is a site I use to travel/host and perform all over. I'm a pretty voracious reader so when not dealing with music I'm usually learning other stuff, mainly science and social issues. I also hold a special kind and utmost respect for Jazz and all it's manifestations(Jazz is the shyte!!). Aside from my industrious intent with music, this is only thing I've truly loved, I've seen and been through a lot of stuff and music has been my only solace so I've kept doing it good and bad times... so I have to go cliche and say: no music=no life for me.

Working With Others

How I Work:

Currently I'm just networking on this site... Most of the work I want collaboration here is geared towards live performance. You'll be credited if there's no money involved and if there's a chance I'm traveling around we can perform too since mine is a solo act with featured musicians. I use to be pretty rigorous and demanding about minute details, but I'm learning to be more laid back and enjoy the flow of the music instead of thinking it and then enjoying it, but I'm still demanding.

Now I do professional drum tracking as well, for that you'll need to contact me beforehand because I do not own a pro studio. If you need semi-professional project oriented type of drum tracks I can do that at my project studio.

Experience:

Drummer for most of my life now. Versed in most popular styles and able to perform pretty much anything I put my ears on. Been introducing myself in the art of sound production, synthesis and designing for the last couple of years. And most recently Working on Media implementation through music experimenting with interactive and reactive live visuals while performing live.

Equipment:

I'm a big Reason and Ableton live user, I point both of these because without it them wouldn't be able to make the work I do. I also own various drum sets and synthesizers. Piano and electric guitar are other instruments I love but two that I'm working to become more proficient at. I also own a project studio rig including a firewire mixer, set of both dynamic and condenser mics, compressor and preamp... just a basic recording rig all done on Mac OSX. Another staple in my set is a Korg Kaosspad 3(KP3) Which is my main FX processor and doubles as a Midi Controller during Live sessions. For The visuals I'm using Arkaos VJ midi. Also I use triggers in my drum set to trigger MIDI events on my sequencers from an Alesis IO module.

Ohh sorry I didn't see your other message until now!
You want me to redo some of the lyrics? ^^; I think I might be a little confused. Try to bring a more uplifting verse or two in to balance the other part?
