Hi World,

What I tried to do with this Roots remix was make a track that was pretty different from the original, and I decided to write spoken-word lines for the chorus sections that dealt with the epic times our nation and world have been going through over the last several weeks. I've included these at the bottom. Definitely listen to the remix on headphones because I mixed things down exclusively on them, and you can hear the vocals a little better in the mix.
Let me just take a moment to tell you all why this remix contest in particular is so important to me. The very first band that I saw onstage was The Roots, opening up for the Beastie Boys at the Worcester Centrum during their Ill Communication tour in 1995, and that experience forever changed how I thought Hip Hop, and music in general, could be made. Since that moment, I knew music production had to be a constant part of my life. While living in Harlem this past 5 years, I've been working on my production skillz as time has allowed. From the Harlem Under-Underground. BodG on the Beat. Peace and OneLove.

PS- In case you haven't heard already, The Roots will stop touring after 18 years on the road in March 2009 to become the house band for The Late Show once Jimmy Kimmel takes over Conan's spot. Although I'll miss seeing them live on tour, I can't wait to see them each night on TV.

Chorus Sections:

- Who knows the Criminal Nature that lies in the Heart of Man
- Darker than the twisted soul of an Imperial Wizard of the Klan
- Like the Darkness from Europe that descended upon the Mother Land
- And decimated Her Children of the Sun, almost grindin' their spirit to a grain of sand

- From the Evil done to Mother Africa
- Arose a Luo child destined for greatness
- Son of the Soil, a peaceful Lua-warrior man
- Bridging races and healing a Nation

- Like the Phoenix, Camelot rises from the ashes
- 'Cause the Dream will never die, 'Cause the Dream will never die
- Arose a Luo child destined for greatness
- Lifting a country's spirit and the world's hopes to the sky
