About Me

Craft:
songwriter, arranger, musician, recording engineer, producer
Instruments:
pen, voice, electric guitar, electric bass, drums
Genres:
rock, folk

I take the craft of songwriting seriously (not that all of my songs are serious). Since I started writing in 2003, I've completed about a dozen songs. Since August, 2005, 7 songs have won 12 songwriting awards in national or international contests - oh, wait, last week (8/1/07) I scored 2 more awards: 8 songs, 14 awards.
(I don't mean to sound like a braggart; I'm actually quite humble; but for someone looking for a collaborator, or even an artist to sign, it seems important, no?)

(These contests [Great American Song Contest, American Songwriter Magazine, Singer/Songwriter Awards, et. al.] typically have 400 - 1,500 entries, and the judges are well-credentialed industry pros.)

I produce my songs in my Protools-based home studio with a beautiful view of nyc. I play all the instruments/voices, excepting one co-write (This Is Why Life Sux).

The songs genres are folk, reggae, classic rock, indie rock, country; one song alternates between a punk verse & a reggae chorus (On & Off).

It's all in the arrangement (& subject to some extent).

I gig my songs around nyc with my band, Shoot The Messenger (www.broadjam.com/ShootTheMessenger).
We played a 3 hour show at The Back Fence 7/6/07.

I also love to blow guitar & drums on jazz tunes. I take an occasional lesson with Larry Coryel, whose become an inspiring friend since I first approached him for a lesson in 1998. (He loved the few original songs I've played for him.)
