i hit things. lots of things that boom, pop, rattle, sizzle, shimmer, hum, roar, crack, slap, tinkle, twitter...
many years of performing, touring, recording, teaching and preaching drums/percussion with a wide variety of artists from barebones indy to signed major-label acts.
while i have a large collection of percussion instruments, i'm sorry, i do not play tabla. that will be in my next lifetime, because one needs a lifetime to learn that wonderful instrument.
if you want or are curious if i can play a certain instrument, ask: i don't bite! (though i may hit...)
- How I Work:
let's talk about this: life is too short to be rigid about severe conditions - every situation tends to be unique and deserves to be handled on its own merits, and not subject to blanket generalizations. we can discuss hourly, per song, per track, per project...
- Experience:
i have many recording credits, you probably won't know many, if any, of the artists i work and have worked with. i can do a large assortment of drums/percussion in many, many musical styles. i am not a prog rock drummer, and don't play double bass drum. i am also not a math-metal drummer.
my influences will hopefully be a clue. i have very good skill on a variety of hand percussion instruments.
and yes, i have delved into the world of programming and have my own little project studio in my house.
- Equipment:
drums of many sizes and types. probably more cymbals than anyone should be allowed to have (what can i say, i'm a bit obsessive about them). and, as mentioned, a large variety of hand percussion from many parts of the world, mostly Afro-Cuban, African, Middle Eastern and Brazilian in type.
my home studio is Logic Pro on a MacBook, using a Presonus Firestudio, JoeMeek 6Q, Presonus BlueTube. I have an assortment of Dynamic and Condenser mics from Avant Electronics, Apex and Shure. my studio space is roughly 13ft x 15ft and is capable of producing very user-friendly sounds.
