About Me

Skill Level:
Amateur
Craft:
musician, photographer
Instruments:
violin, keyboard, electric bass, voice, electric guitar, drums
Genres:
funk metal, nu metal, alternative rock, Indie, light rock
Influences:
Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana, Primus, Korn, Victor Wooten, light grenades, Rise Against, Silversun Pickups, Muse, Modest Mouse, Sublime, Streetlight Manifesto, Incubus, Audioslave, The Hives, Chevelle, Papa Roach, Puddle Of Mudd, the sun and the moon, Beck, Bush

Music has always been a part of my life, playing is something that is just irreplaceably fun. Want to communicate this to other young musicians, and love to work with new song ideas and can put up a bassline pretty fast.

More aggressive, ear grabbing lines is more my style. I'll try my best for laid back stuff, but no guarantees there..

Also I started the Amateur recording group, come by and check it out sometime ;)

Working With Others

How I Work:

Feel free to hit me up, pretty laxed about things, though I am a bit busy so i work kind of sporadically i guess XD

Experience:

campfires, birthday parties, bowling allies, i'm hittin it big here. Don't take it all too seriously because a music scene really doesn't exist were I live, hence why indaba is awesome. If its worth anything I played in the orchestra and did some solo suff for school when i kept up with violin and piano more.

Equipment:

Rd300 Ibanez (bass) , keyboard (Casio), violin, MXL V63M condenser mic, an old dying guitar, Toneport UX2 and ableton live & logic

Great stuff! I really dig "Just a thought(final...)" and "Bury You".
Wicked spicy bassline on "Funky Jam".
I think you are very well rounded at 18 years old.
Keep it up and keep in touch ! :)

Hey, by the way. You've got pretty good tracks here.
Thanks for help offer for my song.

Miles Thorn wrote on May 19, 2009:

Lol @ David...that's great, I actually don't know too much Nirvana aside from the big hits (Smells Like Teen Spirit, etc.), but Cobain's influence definitely runs deep out there. As for playing my song for your pals, that's just awesome, man, thanks, that's quite a compliment. By the way, the new track rocks! (as usual). I'd say Cobain's ghost is channeling through you, too :) Later.

Hope your track recorded well :D
will have to listen sometime
have a good day

Randy Johnson wrote on April 19, 2009:

Thanks. Most of my recordings are one take and usually with improvisation. I am not a studio musician and play better live. Something about the crowd that I love. I'm trying to get some of my live recordings up to digital standards since I made them in the 90's with a Dat recorder set up with the sound system. The mixes are somewhat horrible and the gain was high. Your music is great also. I like the vibe your putting out in your music.

Miles Thorn wrote on April 16, 2009:

Dude! You got some killer tracks there (love that Funky Jam). Thanks for your comment about my track, it's much appreciated :)

Thanks man, good to see another multi-instrumentalist on here. It's cool to see people play every instrument part on a track.

Josh Bisher wrote on December 16, 2008:

HAHA thanks. Yeah will definately collaborate. Im into alot of the same music so. Set something up and send me an invite. Like the vocals, and definately the bass. Over all pretty good man! Peace- Josh

Samuel Coll wrote on December 16, 2008:

Thanks guy. I dig your stuff--you play from the heart. Keep on slappin' that bass.

Heidi Whurr wrote on December 15, 2008:

Wow David! You're clearly a very talented gentleman! You played all the instruments and sung the vocals? I really like what you do! I like the bass line in the first track in particular.
I absolutely love Funky Jam! Seriously funky! :-)
If I was hard pushed to find give you some constructive criticism I'd say that on track 1 and 2 your vocals are louder than the other instruments and possible all three tracks need quite a bit of production. But I think what your doing is brilliant and very well done to you! Keep up the good work!
Hxxx
