Looking for a drummer for a session

Sunday June 07, 2009 at 05:57 PM

Been working on this track "insecurity" and i'd really appreciate it if somebody could work on drums for it-so if you've got some time give it a listen, i'd really like to see what you come up with :)

it could also use a lead guitar part too if anyone wants to give that a try. Thanks a bunch, heres the link to the session.

Also for recording tips check out my group, The amateur recording group.

have a nice day ;)

New track- 'community Service'

Sunday May 24, 2009 at 04:49 PM

Got another track up today on my profile about some community service i did bout a year ago i think...come check it out if you have some time :)

Lyrics:

Crack of dawn, wake up early

I’m not looking forward to this

Get in line, blow in

Guess I’m sober today

Lets walk the line with out bags in hand

Don’t sount fun

(chorus)

Seventy-five

Hours to go

Bet I wont make it out alive

God I feel so low

So why ya here, whats your story

That’s cool with me

I made fun of a random fat chick

But it was worth it

Honestly, I should feel guilty

But I don’t

I couldn’t even give a shit

That’s why I’m here

(chorus)

Its her own fault for bein fat

Not my problem

If it were up to me instead

She’d be working my time

Found a few, open bags of weed

A few needles, tons of beer

By the lake, a trail of condoms near

Wonder were they lead

(chorus)

A couple having sex under the bridge

We should let them be

Why would you do it there

Your in plain view

The rain comes down

Lets walk through it

Bring it around

Our bags are getting full

My arms are falling off

Bubas commin on to me

Its kind of creepy

(chorus)

He’s over 40

And he’s lookin at me

Guess I’m the garbage boy

Don’t know what to do with him

(solo)

I crawl back home

To no relief

My shoes are soaked

I take a leak

(chorus)

Sixty-something hours to go

And I am done with this

X3

(end)

New track- 'You're all the same'

Sunday May 17, 2009 at 07:41 PM

Well had some time to record a new track, started as an excersize and kinda went from there. Hope you enjoy, heres the lyrics:

Why can’t I forgive you

Every days the same

You look at me though bloodshot eyes and I say

Come with me to a better place

Come with me ill hold you tight

Come with me in the middle of the night

Well I call your name

To no reply

Your all the same

no good bye

You hold your secret

Like a hammer

Blown to pieces

You’re all the same

Go away

your all the same
X2

Go away..

X4

I hope you find yourself

Don’t deny yourself

Find a way to be

Free, disobey me

I call your name

To no reply

You’re all the same

no good bye

I hope you find a better place

X2

I hope you find yourself

Don’t deny yourself

Find a way to be

Free, disobey me

I hope you find a better place

X2

Go away

Fixed ma bass and new session ^.^

Thursday January 29, 2009 at 10:23 AM

So I FINALLY got my bass fixed yesterday. First guy took it to didnt know what the problem was, then the next literally fixed in less then 3 minutes. Something to do with grounding-i had to crank the crap out of my amp to get any sound at all and it was fuzzy. So its all good now :D

Got really excited then wrote this-> Maybe

Its a bit heavier then I'd usually go for but it was part experiment and part screwing around. I kind of like it though-let me know what you think! Also its in need of a strong drum track.

oh yea and check out my "Amateur Recording group."

Extend the life of your strings hmm..?

Thursday January 22, 2009 at 04:15 PM

Well heres one for all you cheap bastards out there. I've gone through a lot of strings like i'm sure almost every one of you has, and i know every case is different-in my case my strings were breaking by the bridge a lot. So heres a pretty easy way to fix that. This doesnt change the tone of your guitar/bass at all (well at least i havent noticed) and it seems to be working fine for me so i thought i'd share it here:

  1. Loosen all your strings..If you havent changed 'em in a a while it might not hurt to go all the way and just change them-it'll make this a lot easier.
  2. Grab some felt and cut a piece small piece to fit over your bridge. Anything with fabric (not TOO thick, socs would probably not work) should be fine.
  3. Slide the felt in evenly making sure you cover the sharp parts completely.
  4. Tune it up and give her a go. Hope somebody gets some use out of this! For more tips head down to my Amateur Recording group.

Heres a pic of what it should look like :D

And heres one i did for my bass...used soft green bowling tape-this stuff is the best to use IMO but its hard to get/find and costs $10 a roll :/

OH YEA I fixeded my bass :D
Sorta..its a bit fuzzy but itld work for now. Fualty connection :/ You can hear it in my audition I posted for Amy D's session, something a little strange.

Make a pop filter under $2

Tuesday January 20, 2009 at 07:39 AM

Hey all, I've decided to do a little walk through on how I made a cheap pop filter. Heres the steps:

  1.  Raid Your girlfriends room for pantyhose. Payless works too but they smell bad.
  2.  CHICKS SKIP: Put on your head. "I'm just stretching it out" is a perfect excuse to be cought at an awkward time.
  3.  Slip a Sewing hoop through the pantyhose, snap it in and cut a loosely around it. Dull scizors dont work well here ;[
  4.  OPTIONAL/GUYS SKIP: Cut closer to the edge of the hoop and voila-a pop filter.

Well there you have it-just find a way to prop it up and your all set. I used some clamps and a wooden dowel. Hope this helps somebody out there!

More cheap tips soon, check out my new group, the "Amateur Recording group."

New group and no more bass ;[

Monday January 19, 2009 at 09:26 PM

Well everyone i had to get rid of the bass i've used for all my recordings becuase its not mine-it was a friends and he needed it back so he could sell it and i didnt have the money :/

I've still got my ibanez but the pickups are completely dead and its probably gonna be a while before i can get around to fixing it...

Anyways I've started a new group called the Amateur Recording group-a place for anyone just getting into recording their tracks, new to Indaba, or just lookin to find a cheap way to record their tracks. Everyone is welcome-come check it out Here

New session :D

Wednesday December 31, 2008 at 01:27 AM

hey all, got a new session up "Bullet through my wing" and would love a good guitar part, needs some polishing too. Anything is welcome, long as it sounds good!

have fun with it ^.^

Any sax/trumpet players out there?

Friday November 28, 2008 at 09:30 PM

Runnin up a new session "drama queen" and thought it would sound great with horns! I'd love to see what comes out of this, the only guidelines are that i'd like it to be fairly simple. See if you got any ideas-i'm away visiting family now and will be back this monday. I'll probably re-record this becuase i'm getting some better recording equipement that i'll have when I come back. Its a steady 115 bpm, sorry for no click track but the bass stays the same. Thanks for the interest, have fun with it!
