Yep... I put another one together this morning. This mix has been the most challenging thus far simply because of the sheer number of MTs, nearly 50. I had lots to material to work with and I really enjoyed the challenge.

I posted a new mix yesterday to my profile from the Marcy Playground contest called, "Gin & Money." I really like this one (probably more because it's newer to me and I haven't heard it a thousand times). Have a listen and let me know what you think.

Well, after several frustrating weeks of hardware failures, I was finally able to enter my submissions to the Marcy Playground contest. I was having a lot of trouble with my computer and also with my DAW software. I had a drive fail, several lockups, corrupted project files... the list goes on.
What really bugs me is that I really like this bands music. The recordings are very clean and the master tracks dry. They even included the effects on separate tracks, which is awesome, because I got to listen to where they were going and experiment with my own effects. In the end, I feel that the two songs that I did complete were accurate to the spirit of the songs, with little hints of me tucked away. My focus on these songs was to identify MP's sound and build that up rather than reinvent the song. Now I have listened to many mixes that took this approach and while many had great and unique takes on the songs, this just isn't my approach.
So, even though I didn't get the opportunity to mix all 12 songs in time for the deadline, I'm actually really proud of these and I will post up the other 10 songs as I make my way though.
