Working With Others

How I Work:

Since I spend most of my time helping the team grow Indaba, I don't really get to do much other than goof around on sessions. I tend to work in little spurts (whenever I need a break) later in the evening or on weekends.

Experience:

Self-taught piano. I haven't played with anyone other than my sister at home over holidays since high school, but always enjoy it.

Equipment:

At home, I'm set up with an Apple (so Garageband), an acoustic guitar that I've been trying to teach myself to play for 2 years, and a Yamaha YPT-300.

I ALWAYS have Indaba's Session Console!

At Indaba, we have... well... it's Indaba.

Hello David Garrison, I was surfing the site and I happened to come across your profile. Needless to say, my ears are highly entertained by your artistry and diverse world of musical expression. That organ in "Countries of Africa" is screaming and howling. I luv the arrangement taking place here. The rhythm, the energy, and the spirit of this composition is soulful and flavorful. Speaking of flavorful, "Aboriginal Smile" is simply beautiful. The groove, the harmony, and the expression involkes warmth and hope. David, my journey tonight has been a rewarding experience and I plan to revisit in the near future. Continue to share your talent and musical expression with the universe.

Peace and Rock On,

Allan Blanks

Although a little late...i'd like to say thank you for your comment about my Erik Truffaz-Big Wheel remix. I get really paranoid that people won't like my work. So...

Thank you

Hey David
How are you doing ?
I wanted to know, that is there a option, when someone comments on a mix, so we can be informed through a message or email ?
and also any option for getting up the submission track page, in the collaboration tab to main page, above or under my songs ??

Have a great day.

Asad

Hey David, you're on the staff.... (This is De_Lish, just thought of a better name...long overdue)

serious question this time. I've got a session and I'm trying to give some members the boot...

Under the members list or whatever, I see everyone, and a green checkmark if they're in. I click actions, remove. It seems to work. I get back to the list later only to find the same people. and option changes from remove to end. so i tried end. again, it seemed to work, but was only temporary. just figured i'd let yall know in case there's a lil digital bug in need of some inorganic pesticide.

I mean, Im not saying I wanna be a featured artists - my picture is me topless about to eat a camel animal cracker, thinking about camel cigarettes (pic taken before haircut and Obama tax). I curse and have TooL's Rosetta Stoned as my favorite lyric. and I'm an asshole. But I have come across some talented musicians like myself on Indaba who prefer to keep a professional appearance in their profile and have been on indaba longer than a week. Maybe like, randomize the featured artists within a chosen set of artists or something to get more people on there. but i dunno, maybe yall already do - i wldnt know cuz i rarely check that featured artists section, but hey that takes as back to the beginning of the circle.

I strongly agree with Tassili Bond's comment on March 29th. Stronger than the Hulk on PCP.

Bumping into your track comments on Spikey Jay's new mix, "Hate Me," was a pleasant surprise. I wish I could go throughout my day receiving advice and comments from you, in little bubbles that popped up right before I made my next choice/action.

"Oresti, you don't need another glass of wine."

"That steak looks a bit rare, no?"

"Don't forget to do your laundry... and send mom a mother's day card."

Oh, how simple life would be...

You mean "asado" or "parilla" of course...

Saying BBQ here might result in strange stares, and possible disappearance.

I think I need to try and find the Indabian-Argentines and have a little meet-up with them. Perhaps I'll do a blog-shoutout?

If I have any success, I'll make sure to bring a camera. I'll pretend I'm in an envoy from NYC.

Oresti Tsonopoulos wrote on April 29, 2009:

I haven't fulfilled my promise of recording vocals for the Deerhoof song... and from what I can tell, neither have you.

I've been too busy being Argentine, and on that note, I assume you've been to busy being Canadindaban.

I look forward to good times in The Loft come June. Take good care of Alex until I get there... I know you will.

hey David...i requested to be a member of the Canadian Musicians group...I was wondering how long it takes to be approved?

Tassili Bond wrote on March 29, 2009:

David why are people who just joined Indaba getting featured? Shouldn't people who have put time into this site get first priority?

Rounik S. wrote on March 8, 2009:

Hi David, Thanks for the welcome :) It's nice to be here. Talking about talented... I just checked out "Remède Naturopathics". Very interesting - especially that sound healing is available there too. Take care, R.
